"You do have to call one of the affiliated institutions to get permission to visit. There is a locked gate requiring a code, and a fence all around. No way you can just waltz in, and that’s also illegal. I did not see a single note that any of these graves were affiliated with Tufts, though the institution is listed on the front entry-way sign. There are a very few stones marking a very few Epochs of time when you first enter (with maybe a dozen new graves scattered around them), but there are far more when you get further back. Some people have markers, but most are names written on massive slabs of stone. BU is the only school with a visible presence who does not have names listed on a massive stone. There are letters denoting sections of the cemetery (likely affiliated with the different schools I would assume). It’s so honorable for people to donate their bodies to science, and so sad that there is no oversight, and some bodies have been dismantled and parts sold on the black market. “Harvard’s morgue manager of nearly 30 years, Cedric Lodge, was arrested Wednesday by the FBI. He stands accused of treating the morgue like a storefront, letting potential customers browse body parts and bringing home skin and brains to be shipped out to people across the country. Lodge and his wife, of Goffstown, N.H., and several others are facing federal theft and conspiracy charges. Denise Lodge allegedly received more than $37,000 just from one customer, according to the indictment, filed in federal court in Pennsylvania. Speaking on WBUR’s Radio Boston Thursday, Gov. Maura Healey said the state currently has no oversight of medical school morgues. “We’ll take a look at it, obviously,” she said. Healey said the state does not plan to conduct its own investigation, but instead will let the federal cases play out. Neither the state Department of Public Health nor the medical examiner’s office has any responsibility for the medical school morgues, spokespeople for those departments said. DPH does have oversight authority over hospital morgues — just not those at medical schools. Other states, such as Florida and Maryland, do have some state oversight of anatomical gift programs through state anatomy boards. There appears to be no national oversight of medical school practices with dead bodies. The Association of American Medical Colleges said it has no role in medical schools’ body donations or how they manage their morgues. The American Association for Anatomy, in a statement Thursday, called for reforms to prevent something like the Harvard thefts from happening again.”"

"My dad past away in 1967 and donated his remains to Harvard Medical School. My brother wrote the medical school in the 1980s and found his remains are buried here. I visited the cemetery in the 1990s and worked through the cemetery office and I found his small marker. My dad has nice and quiet place to rest under some tall white pine trees."
