Foxboro State Hospital Site

Welcome to the historic site of the former Foxboro State Hospital located at 25 Chestnut Street, Foxborough, Massachusetts. This site holds significant historical value as part of the expansive development undertaken during the New Deal era, supported by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Federal Public Works Administration funds.

Among the structures that once graced this site was the Tuberculosis Building, also known as the “T” Building. Built with meticulous craftsmanship, this building featured a masonry exterior, concrete and steel interior framing, and wood flat roof framing. It stood as a testament to the architectural and engineering prowess of its time, measuring 206 feet in length and 38 feet in width. Despite budget cuts to the PWA grant, the building was completed at a cost of approximately $141,000, showcasing resilience and determination in its construction.

Though the “T” Building was demolished between 2005 and 2006, its legacy continues to be an integral part of the Old Foxboro State Hospital's rich history. We invite you to explore the stories of this site and others within the campus, reflecting on the impactful projects from the New Deal era.
