"This is an incredible place. The folks there are going way out of their way to be welcoming to way more than just the LGBTZQ... folks. Being welcoming to LGBTZQ folks is a matter of life or death for young people struggling with these issues. It is critical they see places near them that they are welcome. This church usually flies a rainbow flag. This church firmly embraces the importance of the LGBTZQ issues and goes beyond. Food accessibility, allergens, preferences, etc. are paid careful attention. Most food items at most events have all the ingredients listed. Beyond that an effort is made so that there is something nice for everyone to eat. Often this is something simple made during a church service. It seems EVERY ONE likes just baked apples with a bit of cinnamon; and this makes the place smell yummy too. They are also welcoming to folks with mental developmental issues. There are a number of members from the near by group home. There are members and children on the autism spectrum and members coping with the more traditional mental health issues. A really effort is made so anyone who wants to be at the services can get there. A team of members check with folks to see if they need rides and match them up with drivers. In short a big effort is made to make the accessible and welcoming to EVERYONE."
"I felt welcome and at home from the very first day I stepped inside First Parish Church. I am a lapsed Catholic that had turned my back on "organized religion". I came as a skeptic, but the person that invited me was a good friend I trusted. I knew I was in the right place when the sermon I joined was The Blessing of the Animals and everyone had brought their pets! I started joining coffee hour, joining the community and now volunteer to help with the Social Justice Committee, the Community Pantry, etc. Come join us, zoom for now, and join the community."
