About the Business

Welcome to Pegan Hill Reservation
Nestled in the heart of Natick, Massachusetts, Pegan Hill Reservation is a captivating park and tourist attraction that offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history and natural beauty of the area. Located at the highest point in Natick, Pegan Hill stands at 410 feet and is a classic example of a glacial drumlin, adorned with a lush forest of pine, oak, maple, and birch trees.
Pegan Hill holds a significant place in history as the ancestral home of the Massachusett tribe. It was once inhabited by the Pegan Indians, a group of "Praying Indians" led by the renowned Reverend John Eliot in 1651. These early settlers cleared the hill for cropland and pasture, leaving behind stone walls that still stand as a testament to their farming legacy.
Today, visitors can explore Pegan Hill's one-mile trail that runs along its north-south axis. This trail offers breathtaking hilltop fields with panoramic views extending as far as Mt. Monadnock. Recently, 40 acres of open space have been added to this historic location, enhancing its appeal as a natural retreat.
For those planning a visit, accessible parking is available at the top of Pegan Lane in Dover. The main visitor parking lot, accommodating up to 11 cars, is accessible from the South Natick side of Pegan Lane. Please note that Pegan Lane is not a through road, and there is no turn-around for vehicles other than at the parking lot in South Natick.
Whether you're a history enthusiast or a nature lover, Pegan Hill Reservation offers a unique opportunity to connect with Massachusetts' past and present. Before your adventure begins, we recommend downloading a trail map to enhance your exploration of the area.

Reviews
"Very nice walk in early fall. Part of the trail was pretty muddy. The view is gorgeous!"
"very pretty, clean, and very scenic!"
"It starts with a very pleasant hike through the woods. Then you cross onto a grassy hill area with beautiful views - a great place to picknic and there are a couple of tables. From there you can go through another wooded loop. All in all it provides a very pleasant time outdoors. Parking is limited but, if full, someone usually leaves if you wait a few minutes."
"This place is gorgeous. Hidden gem in spring, summer and fall. Unassuming woods lead to gorgeous open fields with old stone walls beautiful variety of trees and lots bird life."
"Beautiful reservation land, great for picnicking. However, difficult to find and limited parking."
