With restrictions recently lifted by the State, we remind everyone to remain vigilant and adhere to all State and Local regulations. Outdoor cooking is permitted year-round across all communities and is not restricted by open burning limits. Additionally, with specific approval from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), we may conduct outdoor fires for fire prevention or research and training purposes.

The popularity of fire pits has grown, and while they can be a great addition to outdoor gatherings, please remember that unless used for cooking, they fall under MassDEP's open burning regulation. If you choose to use a fire pit for cooking, ensure that the fire is properly managed and only clean, dry firewood is used. This practice helps minimize smoke and its impact on neighbors. Under no circumstances should trash, refuse, or similar materials be burned.
