"It's the unofficial final stop on the Fairmount Line. The addition of LED displays in recent years is a nice touch. The fare boxes are broken (no surprise) so make sure you use the mobile app to pay your fare: You're charged a little extra otherwise by the conductor. That aside, the inbound side is surprisingly not very busy. I've gone there during peak hours and offpeak hours before, during and after the pandemic. You'll rarely see more than 5, maybe 8 people max at any given time waiting for the inbound train. I assume the fare and the fact trains only run once an hour are why despite being the shortest line in the system serving the largest population in the state, it is the least used commuter rail line. You'll be downtown in 15 minutes which is nice. Unlike nearby Hyde Park station, the Fairmount line does not go through Back Bay station. You will need to go to South Station, switch to the Red Line and go one stop to Downtown Crossing to access the Orange Line."
""Regardless of your age, you cannot consume marij. in any form in public or on federal land. Those who violate the law can face a fine. The law also disallows smoking marij. where smoking tobacco is prohibited. Municipalities may pass bylaws or ordinances authorizing exceptions in certain areas for social consumption." I take the train every morning at 9:34 am. About three months ago a person started smoking marij. every day at this station before getting on the train. About a month ago another person joined him smoking marij. before getting on the train and today I realized that there are already three. What is the mbta waiting for to take action? what is the goal? Be like new york city? Increase annual cologne sales in MA to avoid coming to work smelling of marij.? reach a point of no return?"
"This train is such a time saver. My children take it to and from work. Getting to southbay is so much easier. So much more easy to get home."
"Great train. People often diss it but my experience is much better. Its broken down, been abandoned a few times but Deffinately not more than 2% of the time and mostly in bad winters. I try to take it because its cheap compared to Hyde Park train (which is faster, but often full) and only a half mile between the stops. Free parking on Truman Parkway. It has more stops, but its quicker than the alternative of the red line from Mattapan. When the Mattapan/Blue Hill stop is done it will offer myself even more options from west Milton. Always get a seat as its not that used."
"While not a true speedy commuter rail line, Fairmont has one of the most consistent schedule. Fairmont stations is no frills but easily accessible from the surrounding street. I wish they would finally put up monitoring cameras though."
