"I love the creative flavors and descriptions. They aren’t the most amazing donut ever, but the whole buildup and celebration of each donut hole makes it feel like you’re eating fine chocolates or something, and they are indeed tasty. I highly recommend a matcha flavor (maybe filled with strawberry jam? Topped with a range zest? Something along those lines. Love me some matcha)! Fully accessible. Metered parking out front."
"Fun donut experience with creative flavors. Recently took a visit on a Sunday morning after getting a recommendation from my friends. Since Masshole changes their flavors weekly, I unfortunately didn’t see some of the ones that my friends have been raving about. The donuts, albeit slightly pricey given their size, were essentially like sized-up Munchkins with more adventurous flavors. The standout for me was the classic cinnamon, and the chocolate and strawberry glazed were also satisfying. However, the ones with a poppy seed donut base were a bit dense and dry. Not sure if I would return, but if you’re curious about trying unconventional donut flavors, Masshole Donuts might just hit the spot."
"I really like the concept of Mass Hole Donuts, but unfortunately for my parents and I, we definitely felt let down. For a business that attempts to elevate a donut hole, their flavors don’t hit the mark. They have super creative names and descriptions (with pictures!), but each donut hole we tried was lacking. The flavors for this week were: Mama’s Lil’ Mass Hole, Johnny Appleseed, The Big Dig, Blueberry Hills Reservation, Strawberry Fields for Everett, and The Wicked Pissah Pistachio. The Johnny Appleseed was our collective favorite because it was a great tasting apple cider donut hole. Of these six, I would go back only for that one and they only sell them here in the Seaport on Mondays! The Strawberry and Blueberry were good too, but didn’t have a strong taste, especially compared to similar donuts I’ve had at other places in the past. The last one I’ll describe is The Big Dig which was our least favorite. We were hoping for a decadent chocolate, but we thought it might have been overcooked because of how bland it was. That brought the review down to a 3 for me. The folks at the pop up were super friendly, informative, and passionate about the product which led to a positive buying experience. Perhaps the donut holes are better at the original location in Somerville, but otherwise, I’ll prefer sticking to my local donut shop."
"I’m not much of a doughnut person but man these are actually pretty good. I’ve gone a couple times to try different ones each week before I could review massholes, & honestly I love that they rotate flavors each week. I love the brioche & classic doughnuts with the filling just superb. My personal favorite might have to be the Boston banana cream pie & Davolls butter pecan bliss. I also like that they have the Johnny Appleseed every week as it’s one of the best. Not fan of the poppyseed doughnuts as they were just ok , but look forward trying all the different options they have in the coming weeks. Def recommend the brioche & chocolate doughnuts."
"Easily the best donuts I've had in memory, and hands down the best donut holes I've ever had. Ever so slightly dense, crispy with a slight chew—amazing. Everything a good donuts hole should be. The guys there were super nice and friendly, and I'll be swinging by again, no doubt. Their shop is up in Somerville, and so they'll only be at the Seaport pop-up for a limited time. But I'll definitely head up to Somerville to check them out there, too."
