Reviews
"I recently visited the outlet on Washington Street and was pleasantly surprised by their extensive selection of pastries and desserts. The presentation was inviting, which made choosing just a few items difficult. We ordered a couple of the sweets and sandwiches, and the quality certainly met our expectations. Although the prices are on the higher side, the quality justifies it.However, my only complaint is that the coffee and tea were served in to-go cups, even when dining in, which detracted slightly from the experience. Despite this, I am looking forward to returning and trying more of their flavors in the future."
"Simply, yes. This patisserie is WORTH CHECKING OUT. Please do yourself a favor and order a few items from their menu. Your taste buds will thank you profusely. I came with a group of friends and we ordered the following (listed in the order of my favorites) (1) pistachio croissant (2) hazelnut shokupan (3) focaccia sandwich w/ prosciutto (4) bagel w smoked salmon (5) monkey bread What I love is that the croissant, monkey bread, and shokupan weren’t overly sweet (which is dangerous because you’ll just keep eating more). There is ample seating inside, comfortable for small and big groups. SECOND UPDATE: These are the pickings from a 2nd visit to Lakon (ordered by my favorite)(1) daisy mango coconut mousse (2) matcha raspberry cube (3) ube maritozzi. I particularly enjoyed the daisy because not only was it a pretty dessert to look at, it was simply a delightful treat. Not too sweet, perfectly refreshing with the fruit mousse. The matcha raspberry cube had a great balance of tartness from the jam and richness from the matcha cream. The cube itself was such a fun shape but not as fluffy as your average croissant. The ube maritozzi was ultra creamy and smooth! Just relative to the other two pastries it felt a bit plain, but still would highly recommend."
"What an exciting addition to the neighborhood - this Lakon location is huge with a variety of seating options, as well as outlets and wifi for those looking for a place to work remotely. There are also single stall bathrooms. We got a Thai Tea Ring Croissant and a Monkey Bread to split. I also got an iced Rose Latte with Almond Milk. The croissant was filled with delicious Thai tea cream that wasn't too sweet and had a really strong tea flavor. The monkey bread was sweet and had a great texture. The rose latte, however was a little milkier than I'd expected after having tried it a few times at their Brookline location. I would definitely come back to try more of their pastries and enjoy their relaxed seating."
"We came to this new location to try the plated dessert menu. The environment is really big and nice. We got a bicolor croissant, matcha vanilla croissant skillet, and the Nutella banana shokupan toast. The matcha vanilla croissant skillet was really amazing! The croissant was heated by the skillet, which, mixing with the cold ice cream, was a really good experience. The crispy bottom was also a nice touch. The bicolor croissant was normal and the Nutella banana shokupan toast was a little too sweet for us."
"This is a bougie French style patisserie with ample seating for sitting down and doing some work. The area is a bit echoey, so bring headphones. It's also quite pricey. We got a sampling to try and spent about $30 per person. I got two macarons to try. They were good but nothing to call home about. The bakery next door has larger macarons with a bigger flavor selection. I'm enjoying the chocolate chip cookie, which is very thick and chewy. The lemon mousse is Instagram worthy but one note. I'm glad I had it but wouldn't spent another $9 on it. The bicolar croissant was good, but not super memorable. The staff are super friendly. One gentleman recommended a mixed Italian soda which we enjoyed."
