"Do not rent from this location until management hires and trains additional resources. With only one person working the desk, It takes forever to pickup a vehicle (or just to return) and with only vehicle runner/washer it jams it up even more so. This is not a knock on the staff there; the woman workng the desk/counter could not have been any more efficient, pleasant, or have a more positive attitude - It's the staffing and managements lack of caring to hire/train sufficient resources. My vehicle smelled like smoke, still had dirt on the interior floor, and straw wrappers everywhere. My attempt to rent from here locally vs. at the airport, thinking it would be faster and with at least equivalent cars, was completely flawed."
"I rented a car for 3 days. I picked up the car late in the day shortly before close and went home to find out the back seat is entirely marked with dog paws and dirt. No big deal, I cleaned it with some good cleaners and it was good as new. We started our trip early next morning and about 30 minutes in I noticed the brakes on the car are not good. They do make the car stop, but they make noise and they feel worn. I felt that sometimes the car took longer to stop. This is a safety hazard and I had my family in this car for three days. I was stressed out by the condition of this car. When I mentioned both issues to the person checked my car at return, she said “sorry about that!” and that no one complained about the brakes so she didn’t know. She looked at her computer and mumbled “3 thousand, yeah, it is old” and then apologized again. She never asked about safety or checked if I had any issues in the first place."
"Avis saves the day! During a road trip to Boston for a race, our car broke down when we were leaving. After working through tons of logistics to rent a car to get back home, no one would accept a debit card except Avis. Huge lifesaver and the entire experience from the phone rep who found us a vehicle, to the pickup counter agent, and through the easy return, Avis made it simple and ensured we got home."
"I gave Avis a second chance only to get disappointed again. tl;dr: 1. The car wasn't there. 2. The voucher for a complimentary rental didn't work. 1. My flight arrived at 11:30pm at Albuquerque. I got an email that a car is waiting for me in one of the preferred stalls. However, when I arrived at the car rental facility at 12:30am, the car wasn't there. Nor was there anyone at the preferred counter. I had to go back to the regular counter and wait to get another car. 2. After an earlier disastrous Avis experience (car broke down in the middle of a desert and I had to pay 1.2K out of pocket to get back to the airport), I was given a voucher for complementary rental. Okay, maybe I should give Avis a second chance, right? Tried to apply the voucher at the time of booking: nope, didn't work. Called customer service before the trip to apply the voucher: nope, didn't work. They could technically do it, but in doing so they'd need to release my existing reservation and make a new one, but the location is out of cars. Called customer service after the trip to apply the coupon: nope, didn't work. Can't apply after the trip."
