"The recipes are unique and delicious! The quality of the ingredients is often better than what I get from the store. I like being able to get the occasional gourmet vegan goodie from the plantry. The time and mental energy I save, along with the quality of the ingredients and creativity of the meals, plus the decreased food waste, makes this worth it for me. (I do meal kits, 3x meals for 2 people, 1 - 2x per month)"
"So disappointed by the service. I started a month ago and every single week I’ve had issues. Once they sent me a kit to prep my own meal when I required prepared meals, then they sent 7/8 meals and no the ones I wanted, then they skipped a week without any reason, then I never received my order… the delivery day is every Tuesday in theory (which is not a convenient day honestly) and they also don’t know when you’ll receive it… i would be hungry mid afternoon after the meals so the portion is a little bit too small from my point of view. I subscribed to this service because a friend of mine recommended purple carrot to me but unfortunately I cannot do the same as I’ve had an awful service…"
"Disappointed. Too much oil and high calorie meals. I love plant based foods but these were not even as good as some frozen meals from the grocery store. Not fresh."
"I wanted to Love Purple Carrot. The quality of the prepared meals is very inconsistent. I ordered 7-weeks and tried every recipe multiple times. I’ve attached a video of my favorite meal “Elote-style Creamed Corn. This is the perfect example of why I’m giving a 2-star review. The recipe is wonderful— sweet and spicy on the corn side, but savory on the potato side. Unique ingredients— roasted plantains, pumpkin seeds, roasted corn and bell peppers. Sounds amazing, right? Unfortunately, the quality of the potatoes is hit and miss. They get it right less than 50% of the time. There are times when the potatoes are tender and perfect, there are an equal amount of times they are nearly raw/uncooked, and several times when the color and texture were “off” — like overcooked or expired food product. I hate wasting $13 on a meal that I can’t eat. I could go out and have something made fresh for that. Every delivery Ive received has at least one dish that will go bad within a day of receiving it. This week was the Thai Red Curry, which is my second favorite. Creamy and spicy veggies with brown rice. How do I know it’s bad before even opening it? The plastic film swells like it’s pregnant. I received my order Wednesday, put it in the fridge immediately, and found it ready to burst Thursday afternoon. It’s not just the quality — it’s the actual recipes being significantly different each time you receive it. If you look at the ingredients for this meal, “mung beans” are 5th on the list. I’ve eaten this meal many times where I didn’t realize these beans were an ingredient. I’ve eaten the same meal where the mung beans were as present as the rice — not good at all. The Pesto Portobello Tortellini is another favorite— sometimes — lemon juice is listed at the 12th ingredient nearly at the end of the list — there are times where the lemon is so overwhelming it’s all you can taste. I actually thought it was vinegar. The quality of the broccoli they use is very inconsistent. Sometimes you get beautiful florets and others you get hard, unchewable stalks. It’s so disappointing. The recipes are outstanding, that is why I gave it a 2-star rating. Unfortunately, the food quality and consistency are a 1-star rating. If you were in a restaurant, you would probably send your plate back for something else. These meals are too expensive for these quality issues."
"Amazing food! Always delivered on time as expected. So many options. I can’t believe this is not a 5 star review from everyone. I tried several food delivery companies prior to this and it was a nightmare. Late deliveries, missing food, no options for people who don’t eat meat! The list goes on. I am a huge fan of the cook it yourself PC meals they are delicious and so convenient! Purple Carrot gets an A+ from me."
