"Amazing rail trail for bike riding and walking. Beautiful scenery"
"Beautiful place to walk!"
"Another paved stretch of the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, an ambitious project to connect Wassaic in Dutchess County to Chatham in Columbia County by way of one continuous paved trail. The trail is based almost entirely on the route of now defunct railroad lines which carried passengers and freight towards Albany from New York City (not wholly replaced by the modern MetroNorth). This stretch is equally scenic as those farther south, complete with a high bridge spanning Bash Bish Brook. Ancient trees line the trail, some of which are intertwined by weeds. Large farms appear on both sides of the trail. Upon close inspection, one can see a few of the old railway ties discarded amongst the brush. To access the trail, one can park in Taconic State Park (free only when closed), or in the Harlem Valley Rail Trail’s parking lot further north (whence one treks southwards only)."
