"Title: Disheartening Experience: Racial Profiling I recently had an extremely disheartening experience. As a frequent patron who relies on this facility, I was shocked and deeply unsettled by the treatment I received. Upon my last visit on 7/21/24 the 2 pm hour, I was pretreating my clothing near the sink, as I always do, when suddenly I was confronted by an attendant, a heavy set Hispanic woman. Despite explaining that I was not washing clothes but merely pretreating them, I was repeatedly told that washing in the sink was not allowed. This would have been understandable if it were true, but what followed was a blatant display of racial profiling. The attendant insisted on enforcing this rule selectively with me, a black woman. I felt increasingly watched and scrutinized, to the point where I was made to feel unwelcome and I left without even getting to put my clothes in the washer after pretreating them near the sink. This is not the first time I've noticed such treatment; other Hispanic attendants and even some patrons have made me feel similarly uncomfortable in recent visits. As a homeless woman who uses reusable pads and relies on this laundromat for basic hygiene, feeling harassed while simply trying to take care of my belongings is unacceptable. This experience has left me feeling marginalized and deeply disappointed. I urge other black patrons to be aware of the climate here. While the facilities might be adequate, the treatment of minority patrons needs improvement. No one should feel targeted or unwelcome based on their race or circumstances. I sincerely hope that management takes steps to address these issues and ensures that all patrons, regardless of race or background, feel respected and valued at all times. The attendant created an unwelcoming atmosphere and unfairly targeted me due to her biases against black patrons, accusing me of washing in the sink when I was simply pretreating clothing to prevent stains. Pretreating is a routine part of my laundry process before placing items in the washers. In addition, I want to clarify that I used my own bucket for presoaking and only rinsed pretreated items in the sink. I didn't leave any items in the sink to soak or engage in washing any items in the sink and I ensured that my process didn't disrupt others. This methodical approach meant keeping the water running was necessary to maintain efficiency, but the attendant hovered over me telling me to turn the water off in between each item I rinsed with the pretreatment supplies, but that would have taken too long. To even know when I was turning water on and off is proof of her overzealous scrutiny, singling out, and targeting of me as a Black woman. She conveniently had to restock paper towels when I was completing my ritual, but the way she was watching me like a hawk created unnecessary tension."
"Horrible dryers. I put 2 quarters in 3 dryers and only 2 worked. I changed my clothes to 3 different dryers and the same thing, they still came out damp. Mind you, I put 1 first… waited til the glass felt warm then put the next quarter. Don’t recommend this place."
"Best laundry spot Ive been to. Probably honest and good owners. Efficient and affordable. Stuff works and easy to understand"
"Not crowed and clean but no attending on site. My clothes got locked in a broken machine and was unable to contact anyone for help. This should change."
