"If you find yourself in the Hayes St. area and in need of a good coffee, LOQUAT is a gem worth visiting. I recently stopped by for a quick morning coffee, following a friend’s recommendation, and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The cappuccino I ordered was crafted swiftly and served in a charming short cup, highlighting the café’s attention to detail. The roast was a straightforward medium, yet it was executed to perfection, offering a balanced and smooth flavor that coffee enthusiasts will appreciate. What set the experience apart was the delightful sweet treat that accompanied the coffee. This little confection, imbued with a rich marzipan flavor, complemented the cappuccino wonderfully. Its sweetness paired perfectly with the coffee’s slight bitterness, creating a great taste. LOQUAT’s atmosphere is another reason to visit. The café is relatively quiet, making it an ideal spot for those looking to work or simply enjoy their coffee in peace. The clientele seems to consist mainly of individuals either working on their laptops or grabbing their coffee to go, which contributes to the chill and focused ambiance. In conclusion, LOQUAT is a standout choice for coffee in the Hayes St. area. The combination of expertly made coffee, unique sweet treats, and a tranquil environment makes it a place I highly recommend. Whether you’re looking to get some work done or simply savor a well-crafted cappuccino, LOQUAT delivers on all fronts."
"Tried the chocolate cake with espresso buttercream, a jam and custard croissant, and a cappuccino. Everything was great! Chocolate cake was rich and moist, pastry was flaky and soft (plus custard and jam were very tasty), and the cappuccino was good. Also a nice cozy vibe inside"
"The place is cute; wide, tall windows, and a small collection of sweets that seem Levantine, particularly the babka and boureka, which I think is Israeli iirc. It has a palpable, quaint charm that often feels out of place in a place like San Francisco. The salted chocolate babka tastes just like how it looked; never had them as muffin shapes, but it was interesting and retained some moisture, even though it wasn't very crispy. A reheat would have been nice, but regardless, it tasted pretty good, and paired well with a black coffee. It's worth a nice stop if you're in the area."
"Very pretty cafe! I went for brunch with my girlfriend and we shared the breakfast platter, and each got a latte. I also got two hamentashen to go. This was a bit over $50 with tip. Everything was tasty, the pastry was perfectly flaky and the little dips were yummy. It's a very light meal. My only complaint is that I don't feel like the meal was worth $50. It's just too expensive for what it is. I probably won't come back for the breakfast platter, but I would come and just grab a pastry to go. I also realized after we left that in other people's photos the breakfast platter came with cheese and we didn't have any cheese on ours. Also they have very little seating and it's very close together so it wasn't a great place to have a conversation (maybe on a weekday when it's less crowded?)"
