Manhattan Beach Library

Welcome to the Manhattan Beach Library, a cornerstone of community learning and engagement located at 1320 Highland Avenue, Manhattan Beach, California. Established in 1910 by the Neptunian Women’s Club, our library is one of the oldest in the LA County Library system, serving as a beacon of knowledge and culture for over a century.

Our modern 21,500-square-foot facility, designed by the acclaimed architectural firm Johnson Favaro, opened its doors in 2015. With its stunning two-story design, panoramic ocean views, and state-of-the-art amenities, the library offers a welcoming environment for all visitors. Families can enjoy our interactive children's exhibit, cozy up by the fireplace, or make use of our automated materials handling system and self-check machines for a seamless library experience.

The Manhattan Beach Library is proudly supported by the Friends of Manhattan Beach Library, a dedicated volunteer-run organization that enhances our services and events. From exciting contests like the 45th Annual Bookmark Contest for young artists to special celebrations like One Book, One County, there's always something happening at our library.

We offer a wide range of services, including the ability to check out Kindle Paperwhites pre-loaded with expertly chosen books, laptops for in-library use, and access to a plethora of digital resources like eBooks, eAudiobooks, and more—all free with your LA County Library card.

Our library is also a Family Place Library, providing early childhood information, parent education, and resources to support family learning and development. For students, we offer Homework Centers with enhanced resources and online homework help to support educational success.
