About the Birdcage Park
Welcome to Birdcage Park, your neighborhood oasis nestled at 6501 Parkcrest Street, Long Beach, California. This charming .97-acre park provides a delightful escape for relaxation and recreation. Whether you're looking to unwind on the lush green lawns, enjoy a family picnic, or take a leisurely stroll, Birdcage Park offers the perfect setting.
A beloved spot for local families, the park's play area is a favorite among neighborhood children, providing a safe and fun environment for play. Birdcage Park's unique history adds to its charm; it was once part of the original Heartwell Park area. When the Heartwell Park Golf Course was developed, this one-acre site remained untouched, later transforming into the mini-park it is today.
The park's name, Birdcage, is inspired by the high fences surrounding it. These fences, designed to protect visitors from stray golf balls and to separate the park from the Los Cerritos Channel box culvert, create a cozy, enclosed atmosphere reminiscent of a birdcage.
Managed by Long Beach Parks, Recreation, and Marine, Birdcage Park is a testament to the community's commitment to preserving green spaces for public enjoyment. Visit us today and experience this hidden gem in the heart of Long Beach. For more information, feel free to contact us at (562) 570-3100.

Reviews of Birdcage Park
"This park is great for young children the playground is designed for younger kids, but still usable by older kids too. No bathrooms, a few picnic tables, and room for kids and/or dogs to run and play. It has a lot of shade so the grass seems to me to be damp..."
"Nice little park to take young kids to. It's in a funny little fenced area that is almost surrounded by the golf course, but you can park in the neighborhood and walk across a little bridge to get to the playground and picnic area. It's nice that it only has the one exit so I don't have to worry about my kids running off!"
"There is a new flower display. At the 4th tree in from the street right hand side as you enter. A man comes everynight and leaves his wife a bird of paradise. Please have respect and not bother it. He comes so late because he works 12 to 16 hours a day. He is also a veteran of 13 years a real actual 160th SOAR. special ops "Night Stalker". There very rare and you will probably never meet one. He looks late 40's but I hear he is 60. But thats whats new there. Maybe you ladies cpuld talk to him he seems like he needs company."
"Cute park right next to the golf course. It’s probably more of a summer park since the playground doesn’t get much sun during the colder months."
"Cute, little hidden park. It's away from the street, so little ones can have more freedom to run around. No bathroom though."
