Reviews
"Anthony Rendon did the right thing, if single payer got passed, taxation would be doubled as it would make the state go way over budget. Businesses, (especially mom and pop shops) may go bankrupt, sales tax would increase, etc. in order to offset the 200 billion extra dollars. Healthcare will always cost something. In a society that runs on money, many things cost at least something. Single-payer might cause the healthcare itself to be free, but the price of other things will increase. There is no feasible way to use such a system without heavily increasing taxes, which should not be happening."
"3 stars is the middle, signifying not one way or the other. Initially, I was disappointed. Upon reflection, I think the consensus forum is over-reacting. My understanding is that Rendon wants to know how this senate-passed bill of lofty principles is going to be funded, among other details. I'm socially liberal/financially skeptical, but "the tail is wagging the dog" here, with no hint at how it will be paid for. Oh, and those of you on Medicare (me!)... POOF! That would be gone! And right now, pie-in-the-sky is it's replacement. Nothing wrong with proposing an idea, ballparking the cost, and invoking creativity to make it work. Single payer is far from dead in CA, but my mom told me to be careful about what I wish for."
"We need single payer health care more than ever! Why did you kill it?. Single payer would save my family about $12,000/year (and who know how much if Trumpcare is enacted) I would gladly pay more taxes to support single payer because I know it will still save me so much money each year - And assure coverage to everyone!"
"Look, another yellow belly politician, sold to the health insurance companies, who is trying to kill Universal Health Coverage in California. Shame on you Anthony Rendon! You will be remembered comes election time, your political career is over and done. Think about that. Think long and hard"
"looks like insurance companies money is more important to this man than humans lives. He knows Californians are angry with him and that is why he has disconnected his phone so no one can call him. We started getting in trouble when money became GOD to many of our politicians."
