Welcome to Bab Ul Ilm Jafari Shia Islamic Center, a vibrant mosque and place of worship nestled in the heart of Maywood, California. Located at 5950 Heliotrope Circle, our center serves the spiritual and community needs of Shia Muslims in the Los Angeles area and beyond. Established in 1997, Bab Ul Ilm has been a beacon of faith and learning, proudly residing at our current location since December 2000.
Under the esteemed leadership of Hujjatul Islam Syed Fazil Mosavi, who founded the center, Bab Ul Ilm continues to thrive as a hub for religious education, spiritual growth, and community engagement. Our center is fully supported by the generous donations of our community members and is recognized as a 501(c) non-profit organization in the State of California.
At Bab Ul Ilm, we celebrate significant events such as Eid Al Ghadeer with grandeur, featuring renowned personalities like Shahenshah e Manqabat Mir Hassan Mir. Our teachings and activities are inspired by the wisdom of revered figures, such as Imam Ali (a.s.), who reminds us of the eternal struggle between intellect and desire: “The intellect and lust are opposite to each other; knowledge supports the intellect while the lust is supported by the passions and inordinate desires. Self is a battlefield where a war is waged between the intellect and lust; whoever becomes victorious in this fight takes control of the self.”

"Nice and clean but they need to fix the telephone number because it’s not working"
"There is a guy stay next to the center and we assume that he would probably a guardian to this place. Somehow he didn't allowed us to perform our prayer outside of the centre even just for few minute. He keep telling us the place is not clean to pray. But we already told him that we bring along our prayer mat and its not a big deal for us. He seems unhappy with our presence here. And also he told us we are not allow to enter this premise. We totally don't understand why this guy no considerable at all. We are just a visitor and we come here to perform our prayer before the time runs out. He suggested us to pray at the other masjid which is in Anaheim and we are not familiar with the places."
