"The Compton Art and History Museum is a great intimate spot. I went during the “We Want to be Free” exhibition in April 2024. The creator of the museum, Mark, was there and was super friendly. I loved seeing the art pieces and learning more about MLK’s legacy in SoCal. There was a fun chalk wall that guests could add to. Overall, the experience was awesome and I recommend checking out this lovely museum!"
"I’m happy to see that Compton has its own Art & History Museum! Such a beautiful space with beautiful staff! The “We Want to Be Free” exhibit had some dope photographs and an interactive chalk wall that I really enjoyed :)"
"A very small art gallery in the heart of Compton sharing history and art from the area by local artists. When we went, there was a gallery on Martin Luther King Jr when he visited Compton and the Black lives matter march on Washington. The display of the photography was beautiful, and although it was small you could tell a lot of love was put in to the design. They also have a great selection of books, shirts and other items that their gift shop. I would definitely return for their next gallery."
"So amazing! Truly grateful that I was able to be at the grand opening with the amazing founders, staff, and all of the other wonderful humans there. The Compton Museum offers an immersive journey through the rich history, culture, and innovation of Compton. From the moment you step through its doors, the ambiance is inviting, creating an atmosphere that encourages exploration and curiosity. The exhibits not only celebrate the achievements of notable individuals but also shine a light on the everyday heroes who have contributed to Compton's rich social fabric. The museum's dedication to diversity is evident in its diverse programming, ensuring that the stories of all community members are authentically told and appreciated. The Compton Museum not only fosters a sense of community engagement but also ensures that the museum remains dynamic and evolving. A excellent and enriching experience that goes beyond a traditional museum visit. It seamlessly blends history, innovation, and community, making it a must-visit destination for both residents and tourists alike. I hope that more people get the opportunity to enjoy the museum and the cities amazingness!"
