About the Business
Welcome to Temple Beth El, one of the oldest Reform Jewish congregations in the Los Angeles area, located at 1435 West 7th Street, Los Angeles, California. Serving the South Bay communities, including the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the Beach Cities, Torrance, San Pedro, and Long Beach, we are committed to being a warm, welcoming, and inclusive place of worship. Our synagogue is a vibrant community where everyone is valued—whether you are a Jew by birth or by choice, part of an interfaith family, or of any age, marital status, or sexual orientation.
At Temple Beth El, we balance the ability to host a variety of inspiring services and events with the intimacy needed to maintain meaningful connections with each family. Our congregation emphasizes warmth, friendship, and acceptance without judgment. Here, elders are revered, and children are cherished, creating an environment where all feel welcome and cared for.
Our esteemed Cantor, Ilan Davidson, brings a lifetime of musical talent to our community. With a career that began at the tender age of five, Cantor Davidson has graced audiences worldwide with his operatic and musical theatre performances. As a contemporary Jewish songwriter and performer, he has shared his soulful music across the globe, including in Israel and Lithuania. His acclaimed recordings, such as "Stained Glass," "In A Hanukkah Mood," and "God Is In This Place," showcase his original compositions and contributions to Jewish liturgical music.
Cantor Davidson considers his role as husband to his wife, Jodi, and father to his daughters, Jordan and Zoe, to be his greatest achievement. His dedication to family and community reflects the values we uphold at Temple Beth El.
We invite you to join us in our journey of faith, friendship, and community. Discover a place where you belong, where everyone is welcome, and where you can find a spiritual home.

Reviews
"I attended services and classes on Judaism at Temple Beth El led by Rabbi Briskin for several years and found it to be a very welcoming lovely community of faith and place of worship. I especially enjoyed the classes and small groups with Rabbi Briskin"
"This Temple is beautiful. Our close friends had their Bat Mitzvah at the Temple. It was such a special event at a perfect location."
"Amazing Temple, wonderful staff, great congregation and wonderful events"
"I’m not Jewish, but through their actions, I can see they are a warm and welcoming congregation. They hosted the Jewish and Catholic Women’s Dialogue, opened their parking lot to people sleeping in their cars, and invite the community for weekly Weight Watchers meetings. Our community is blessed to have them."
"It is a place where you can go for the first time, and due to the overwhelming kindness of the members, the Rabbi and the Cantor, you feel as if you belong! They make you feel welcomed! They have great programs. Cantor Davidson is very entertaining and has a wonderful voice. You will enjoy the experience. They also have Friday night dinners where you can mingle with others while you enjoy a light meal. Five Stars all the way around."
