"I feel bad for the one-star experiences. I didn't receive anything but professional service and care. Mom had her service here, and last month my wife had hers. expedient and professional, nothing short of that. They displayed care and understanding. If you need a place to have a service, not intending to sound dark or anything, use Lighthouse on Torrance Blvd. Exemplary."
"The customer service was good. My complaint was that my mother didn't look as expected. I specifically requested that her hair and makeup be a certain way. When I showed up to do a final inspection and was throughly disappointed. I had to do my mother's hair and makeup. I'd added a flower to her hair for the final touch. I have before and after pictures. She looked much better and then I was satisfied. It was very hard for me to do this much. I wanted her to be pretty during this difficult time. I brought this to their attention, and they didn't address it, so I had to go to my car and grab some items to make this happen. I felt like they could have done a better job. I did, and that's not my profession."
"Losing someone you love is difficult. Planning their funeral services is even more difficult because it confirms that person is no longer with you. My children and I were blessed beyond measure to have had the assistance of every single employee at Lighthouse. Polly who helped my family plan my husband's services, Sarah in media who assited me with his picture video when I was falling apart and Ulises, Cecilia, Courtney and Michelle who were the care staff during the services. They helped me keep it together and were absolutely kind and patient with our guests. They made this experience smooth, beautiful and peaceful. Most importantly my husband looked amazing, which brought peace to our hearts. Thank you to everyone! The Ramirez Family"
"From beginning to end, the staff was extremely supportive with the loss of my grandmother. I retained services from the Torrance location, as I have used them before for my father's service in 2019. Rice Center is huge, the interior and exterior design of the facility is in excellent condition- a very nice place to give a beautiful send off for a loved one. There is a chapel, lounge area to sit, reception area with a kitchen, restrooms, simply spacious. I especially appreciated Courtney Thompson in client services. She was super compassionate, empathetic, hardworking, and helpful. Although I was assigned Craig, who was nice, he was a little too salesmannnyyy for a grieving grand-daughter. He talked over me at times, making me feel rushed to make decisions in the midst of grief. I did not appreciate that at all. I do not think he even realizes he does that-Verbal communication requires the receiver to listen, and not interrupt people in the midst of conversation. He needs to work on that. Given this, I was much more comfortable talking to Courtney, who was happy to answer any questions, or concerns, that I had. The day of my grandmother-s funeral they were flexible and allowed me to come in early to decorate the facility. Aside from this, Courtney was there to help with last minute touches that needed to be done to make my grandmother's everything would have wanted. She helped arrange the flowers, and made a beautiful butterfly with a rosary in her casket. Last, Carlos (I think last name Arias) went ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations. He was super empathetic, respectful, helpful, hardworking, and simply took lead and guided the entire service. I am so grateful that Carlos was there to support and make the service transition smoothly. It was the most perfect send off to our matriarch, our queen, my abuela. Thank you Rice, I am forever GRATEFUL for Courtney and Carlos, and their compassion and professionalism during this difficult time in our lives."
"Clean and well maintained grounds. Staff were present and were ready to assist. Plenty of space to host a large group, and the dining area had plenty of tables and chairs to have refreshments and snacks. The inside was well lit, good surround system in the lobby for those who prefer to listen outside of the service area. Well decorated and the bathroom was well stocked. ADA friendly throughout the whole facility."
