"Nice views of the ocean, Point Vicente Lighthouse and (on clear days) Catalina island. The Nike/Prickly Pear section is a short loop with some steep bits. WATCH YOUR BALANCE: It goes *through* a thick grove of prickly pear cactus -- downhill if you go clockwise! Not much shade except where it goes through was appears to be an abandoned farm. Well-cleared when I went yesterday, but it can get overgrown at times. Park up at the city hall, go to the grassy park area, and look for the brick cube with the plaque at the west end. Rock-marked dirt trails lead off to the nature reserve. Trail signs indicate bicycles and horses are allowed, but I wouldn't want to bike downhill through the prickly pear grove!"
"Pretty easy hike with a combination of wide and single track trails. Amazing views!!!! Warning, there's really no shade along the trails so it can get pretty hot."
"This is by far my second rated hiking spot in California and the first place Calabasas. This place has the relaxing view of the tones of the ocean and on top of that the place is very well kept up by means of trash and parking lot access. If you want a beautiful photo of the view on the top portion I would suggest a 360 photo. The nature walk the way down the hill toward the biloing trees at the end is calming and breath taking experience for me and probably you as well. Now there is one lil scene I thought was lovely was the bird house in the trees at the final destination took a photo of it and it came out perfect."
"After joining the Army National Guard, I was part of platoon of soldiers who had to help to demilitarized site LA 55 Nike Herclus. A remote location back then. Firing ranges at Point Vicente was still in limited use."
