"I’ve been going to UMI South Long Beach for 2 years now for various scans, an ultrasound and even a needle biopsy. I have never had a single bad experience with anyone up front at reception or any of the techs in back. Everyone has been kind, and professional to me. I was there this week for two procedures and everything went wonderful. Laura the mammogram tech is awesome, she’s so nice. Thank you!"
"It was fast. I did however complete the document request via online (they send text messages and emails for it once you book you appointment). So they had copies of my ID and insurance card ahead of my appointment. You just gotta let them know at the front desk about that. The front desk looks a little unorganized (packet of papers that I already completed or repetitive questions, and also duplicates of some pages in the same packet). Other than that I was helped rather quickly the whole thing took 30 minutes (waiting, being assisted by front desk and the 3D mammo tech nurse Laura who was awesome and sweet)! I was pretty happy that it didn't go over 60 minutes as parking would be more money. First hour is $2 bucks that's the other downer, parking isn't free nor is there validation for it at the doctor's office. I'm happy overall as they were able to get me an appointment quite quickly! "I was having a hard time calling in to set appt because no1 pick up the phone! But the magic time was calling in the morning and i got my appt. Went in, filled out form and got called in within 5 min for MRI. MRI tech was friendly and she found my vein for contract dye. I was almost asleep in the tunnel, it was comfortable."
"You have to pay for parking and there is no parking???? Absolutely no spots good luck trying to find one. They also don’t validate parking….How obscure? I had a CT with contrast and without. About 3 hours after I left, I get a phone call saying that they only did one scan and not the other. I’m sorry but WHAT? You guys literally have the paper with the dr orders and they were ALSO sent electronically a week prior??!!!! They said you need to come back tomorrow with no apology or empathy for the fact they made an avoidable and unnecessary mistake! I declined because Why would I trust you with another scan if you can’t even simply read words on a paper? Do better and do your job correctly. Working in the medical field requires attentiveness and commitment to improving the well being of others. This place does the opposite and has a bad vibe all over."
"They were able to schedule my appointment quite easily over the phone, and fit me in the following day. The MRI machine broke when I was scheduled for my appointment, so my total time at the office was over 3 hours. Other available machines did appear to be working, but I had to wait until the machine I was scheduled to go on was fixed. They should have had someone available to fix the machines sooner, or put me in line for one of the other machines, since the actual scan time takes only about 20 minutes. However, the staff were all nice and friendly during my experience. Additionally, when my bill arrived, it did not acknowledge the down payment that I made when I was at the office. Since the office is only open on weekdays, I didn't have time to call until a few weeks after my bill arrived, so they sent me a late payment notice for my incorrect bill. When I finally did have time to call, shockingly, they had my receipt easily available on file. It was a bit sketchy to me that they had access to the receipt, yet still sent the incorrect bill twice. So if you go here, please make sure to double check your final bill before paying, because they might try to overcharge you. All in all though, the final price I paid was quite reasonable for the area and the service I received. I didn't think the place was horrible and that no one should go there, because they did eventually get the job done. However, I'm sure there are better options around."
