At Harbor UCLA, our residents and faculty are passionate about working with underserved populations, empowering marginalized patients who face significant obstacles to accessing primary care, such as financial constraints and lack of insurance. Our training sites serve as dynamic learning environments where residents acquire the skills necessary to become outstanding clinicians, all while serving medically underserved multicultural communities.

Our comprehensive curriculum includes training in chronic care delivery, management of acute exacerbations of chronic conditions, procedural skills, and community-based participatory learning. We aim to equip our trainees with the tools they need to become not only excellent physicians but also advocates and partners for the communities they serve.

Under the leadership of Associate Program Director Dr. Bernadette Pendergraph, our family medicine residency program strives to train dedicated, resourceful family physicians who are committed to creating healthy communities and eliminating health disparities. Additionally, we offer a fully-accredited fourth-year Sports Medicine Fellowship, established in 2001, and a Community Health Fellowship that began in July 2020.
