We firmly believe that healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Our mission is to meet the diverse health needs of our community while addressing the barriers that affect their quality of life. Our residents and faculty are dedicated to promoting an equitable society by empowering marginalized patients who face financial and insurance challenges in accessing primary care.

Our innovative curriculum is designed to equip residents with the skills necessary to become outstanding clinicians. Through hands-on experience in our training sites, which serve as living classrooms, residents learn to deliver chronic care, manage acute exacerbations of chronic conditions, and perform various medical procedures. They also engage in community-based participatory training to better understand and meet the needs of our multicultural, medically underserved communities.

We seek to recruit passionate trainees eager to work with underserved populations, providing them with the tools to excel as physicians and community advocates. Our program also includes a fully-accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship, offering a Certificate of Added Qualification since 2001, and a Community Health Fellowship launched in July 2020.

Under the leadership of Associate Program Director Dr. Bernadette Pendergraph, our mission is to train dedicated, resourceful family physicians who can advocate for and partner with disenfranchised communities to create healthier environments and eliminate health disparities.
