Reviews of Ming Heung Dim Sum
"Very cheap. $10 for dim sum for two people. Medium quality only. One of the three steamed dumplings I had was good. The turnip cakes were OK. Counter service only though they have one table to sit at."
"They offer a great selection of dim sum on-the-go. First off, they weren't busy when we arrived around 1pm on a weekday, so that was nice. The lady serving us didn't speak English so we basically had to point at what we wanted. Luckily she had some trays out, otherwise I don't know how we would have been able to tell her what we wanted since there wasn't a menu in English. We ordered 2 steamed buns and 8 dim sum all for $9.80. Such a great deal! We ordered to go which put our whole transaction under 5 minutes. Definitely worth a visit!"
"As much as I LOVE dim sum one bad visit was all it takes to get a 1 star. I've been coming to this place ever since I was a little girl. My last visit here several months ago, I notice the owner/ lady that works the front also works in the back when they aren't as busy. On my visit she was putting more of those buns and shrimp dumplings in to that round silver tray for baking. During the process and dropped a bunch on the floor. I didn't stare at her the entire time but somehow didn't make it noticeable that I saw that happened. What do you know, she picked them all back up and put them in the trays to bake. During that entire process she sneeze a few times and didn't wash her hands, no gloves whatsoever but continued to handle the buns and dumplings. That was it for me! Last visit ever and will not ever go here again! I wish the Health Department would visit them."
"Fast service. Pick what you want and it's boxed up right away. Pay by cash only. Great selection of traditional dim sum dishes all for cheaper than $1.50 a piece. Not too greasy but a bit on the sweet side leaving a mucus-y feeling in my mouth afterwards that traditionally could be washed down by hot tea. The ladies who worked behind the counter kept a straight face the whole time. We tried to make conversation and wish them a happy new year. No response. Sad. Oh well."
"Years ago a coworker brought a box full of delicious shrimp dumplings, ever since (about 8 years) each time we go to San Francisco, we try to make the stop at Delicious Dim Sum. Like other reviewers mentioned, the wall has some papers written in Chinese which I guess is the menu. With that said, if you are adventurous and the person there is not too busy, they will open the huge steamers for you to look inside. I don't know the proper names so I will go by product ingredients. The pork balls that peek out of their dumpling are really meaty and tasty, the shrimp dumpling have a generous portion inside with a delicious shrimp flavor, the shrimp or pork with chives are delicious, there is one that has a lot of chives but if you like the onion/garlic pungent flavor it is fantastic, of course don't miss out on the fresh and plump pot stickers, the steam bbq bun is very good, they have different versions of this one (one has assorted veggies), also one very interesting item for me was what the lady described to me as a tamale (I guess my Latino charm) rice, an egg and traditional Chinese sausage wrapped in a lotus leaf, the aroma of the leaf is so wonderful and permeates the rice. Heads up, they only have one table inside the location, most of the time it's taken by a patron or even employees. We usually get the stuff we get to go, drive down to Ghirardelli Square and sit on the grass or beach to have lunch. Price is really incredible also, each order contains 3 pieces, of course if you just want one piece they can do that also. Language can be a problem, but a little patience on the customer part goes along way. Be nice and they will be nice also. The younger lady in the counter is super nice and the one that speaks the most English. Overall this is a great place to find great, cheap and delicious dim sum."
