Reviews
"I was really hoping to be able to give a better review for a DMV as I know they have a bad reputation in general. Unfortunately this one does have a valid poor reputation. The line goes efficiently enough for a DMV (not a high bar), which is why it gets 2 stars. The instructions for what to bring in the first place are unclear at best, I uploaded all my documents online, only to be told that I could not get processed because they needed to be brought hard copy in person. When I asked why we upload them at all if you still have to bring them, there was not a good answer. The employees at the front are dismissive of those in line and seem to have lost all empathy, to the point I have to wonder if they select for that. I watched as they poorly handled an elderly woman who was simply trying to understand what the next steps in her process were. I advise making sure someone who can empathize and calm tempers at the front be placed there to help the situation. I also recommend that it be posted that all documents must be hard copy even if they have been uploaded through the system. It also makes me wonder why that option is available at all. Overall two stars for what seems like an okay process once you have brought exactly what you need, but it loses three since there are no clear instructions as to what those documents are for your process. The appointment process is a very long automated message that may result in a few dead ends before you get on the appointment line. It also seems rather inefficient to have people show up at the DMV the first time to understand they have the wrong paperwork and then go back and correct it."
"Better than most DMVs across California. As I sat waiting “my computer won’t process electronic payments” rang out and my heart sank. I didn’t bring checks (who does these days) and I didn’t bring cash. Wasted trip. It would be nice if the DMV app was a replacement for all payments at the dmv. I even used the free DMV WiFi to download the dmv app - couldn’t do anything at the DMV today…4th time wasting 1-2 hrs at the dmv in various locations in the last month; yes I filled everything out online (useless) and I visited 2 different kiosks (useless)"
"I had a two back to back appointments for two separate subject matters. I was lucky enough to get placed with Dennis, an outstanding representative who helped walk me through not only one, which was an extensive process of getting my ambulance drivers license, but also helped me complete my second order of business without making me wait in line again as is customary. Dennis is thorough and patient, and is ready to work with a smile on his face. He easily the reason my appointment today was as efficient as it was, saving at least 45 minutes of my time. I also got the privelege of talking to him which was an added bonus. He is kind and optimistic, which is a refreshing change from my previous experience with DMV workers in other counties."
"Today I went in for my real ID. I've been driving with my California drivers license for 45 years but apparently it's not real unless the lady at the front desk goes through all your paperwork with her nose all scrunchy like and dismisses you for not having enough paperwork even though you brought your whole office desk. Then dismisses you. Really helpful bunch and the kindness is underwhelming. I feel like because I'm a woman I'm targeted for making things as hard as they can. I bet they laugh about it later. I think I'll go to Salinas from now on. I grew up here so I'm in shock. What happened in the last 4 years that makes the front desk ladies so mean?"
"The dmv needs to train their front desk ladies on proper customer service. Anytime I’m there they are rude. Today, as i was waiting for my number to be called i witnessed the way the dmv lady treated each person that walked in. One incident inparticular made my blood boil. Rude for no reason and one of the most unprofessional things I’ve seen in a long time."
