Reviews of Das Bierhauz
"We stopped in for lunch and a few beers with friends and a toddler. The host and waiters were super friendly, letting us know we can order with the QR code or at the bar. It has a casual and welcoming vibe, where you don't feel rushed to dine and leave. Exactly what you want from a beer hall! Great selection of German beers, and I thought the food was really yum - I had the veal Jager schnitzel, which was perfectly cooked and came out nice and hot. The spaetzle is tasty and the fries are hot, crispy and fluffy. There was a slight miscommunication with one of our orders but they made it right without any fuss. Heaps of comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Bathrooms are updated and very clean."
"Loved siting out on the terrace enjoying a good beer and a pretzel. Having a festival happening at courthouse square made the experience all the more exciting. Can’t beat the location/set up. The food was good. Would recommend the pretzel with cheese dip and the curry sausage. Looking forward to coming back and ordering something different. My one complaint is that the plates are large and the table small - I felt like we were going to hit something off the table the whole time. I feel like they could have given us the same amount of food on smaller plates. We were sat down at a table by a hostess and then ordered our food through an app. It was nice because we could get up and leave whenever we wanted but it was kind of a disappointment on service because we then never spoke to a waiter. Our food/drinks randomly came to us from someone without any chitchat."
"Service is lacking and unpolished but may improve (since they are new). If a table of new clients sits down and they want to order a lot of food and drinks, sending them to an app QR code in an area known for bad wifi/cell service is not a great first impression. Insult is added to injury if it's clear you're not busy but still won't take the time to help your clients. I can't imagine that works to sell more beer and food. Once the food arrived it was hot and pretty well presented. The Jagerschnitzel was the standout dish. The fries are good and crispy. The rest of the dishes were OK. We really want this place to be good as well as fun, so we will probably be back but hoping that management understands how much attitude matters; especially for a first impression."
"I wanted this to be 5 stars so bad! But alas, they did not deliver. The night before my GF and I saw a movie across the walkway and on our way out we noticed this German restaurant/bar. Immediately we were intrigued. Coming originally from Europe I was super excited to try it and compare it to what I know these dishes are supposed to taste like. The next day we came for lunch. We were nicely greeted and immediately seated as it wasn't very busy, it was about 30% full. FIRST disappointment was online ordering. Ok, went through this last few years so we know how to work it but we would like to go back to good old days. Each of us ordered a pretzel for starters, my GF ordered Dönner Kebab for main dish, I ordered Wiener Schnitzel for the main dish and we both got a half liter Radler. Radler came out very quickly which was a plus but nothing out of ordinary considering it was not busy. SECOND disappointment was that we waited a long while to get the food and both starter and main dish came at the same time. I'm not sure why is this so hard get it right. THIRD disappointment was the Dönner Kebab. It seems that no one bothers to look up what its supposed to look and taste. Suggestion to the restaurant: please do some homework on this one. Fries was warm and was not salted. If done well you could sell millions. Radler was delicious. My Wiener Schnitzel was thin and small but it was tasty, speatzle that came with was bland but I fixed it by adding some pepper, mushrooms sauce that came in the side was very tasty as well as the side of jam. Thicken and slightly increase the size of the schnitzel and it's going to be awesome. Both of our pretzels were tasty but could have been warmer. Again, I think they cooled down because they came out when the rest of the food came. The atmosphere was good but we did noticed that sometimes the area attracts very rowdy youth, especially in the evening due to the movie theater near by. We will come by to try other dishes and drinks. I hope things improve."
"Fun new beer garden in downtown Redwood City. Delicious variety of German beers and a big food menu. Veal schnitzel was good and the pretzel with cheese was outstanding. Check out the happy hour for great discounts on the beers. Outdoor seating is dog friendly too!"
