About the Calvary Chapel Capitola
Welcome to Calvary Chapel Capitola, a vibrant community of faith located at 4575 Capitola Road, Capitola, California. As a church and place of worship, we are dedicated to lifting high the name of Jesus Christ and sharing His love with our city and beyond. Our rich history dates back to 1949, originally as First Baptist Church of Capitola, evolving into Capitola Community Church in 2004, and finally becoming Calvary Chapel Capitola in 2012. We are proud to be affiliated with Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, founded by Pastor Chuck Smith, a pivotal figure in the "Jesus Movement" of the early 1970s.
At Calvary Chapel Capitola, we are committed to teaching verse by verse through the entire Bible, always centering on Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Our mission is to know Jesus and make Him known, transforming lives through His word and shining His light into the world. We are passionate about worship, engaging in heartfelt music and prayer to glorify God, and we support international missionaries, including those planting a church in Chile.
Join us for our Sunday morning services at 10:00 am or our mid-week service on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm. We also offer live-streaming services, which are archived on our sermons page for your convenience. As we continue steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayers, we invite you to be a part of our journey in bringing the gospel to Capitola, Santa Cruz County, and the ends of the earth.
Located near 41st Avenue, the American Automobile Association (AAA), and the DMV, our church is a welcoming haven for all seeking spiritual growth and community. For more information on service times and serving opportunities, please visit our website. We look forward to growing together in Jesus and witnessing the incredible plans He has for us all.

Reviews of Calvary Chapel Capitola
"Definitely feels like home"
"How can one say you’re Christian when you don’t care about Black life?!! The blue lives matter flag your church flies was designed in reaction to the Black Lives Matter movement. You’re not simply saying police lives matter with that flag. You’re taking a stand that black life doesn’t matter to you and you don’t believe police brutality happens, and that there are disproportionate killings of unarmed Black people by police. Typical hypocrisy, while claiming to be religious and Christian."
"The bigger the church the easier it is for them to lose ya Calvary chapel is awesome big enough to love you and small enough to love and know you These people are awesome So if you haven’t been to church or are searching for one This is the place that You really feel loved Due to my physical condition I can’t get there but I still pray someday I’ll be able to cuz this flock is amazing"
"We recently bought a 2nd home in Capitola. We are Baptists, yet first and foremost, are Christians, believing Jesus IS the Son of God, He died for our sins by crucifixion and was resurrected on the 3rd day. We attended CCC several months ago. The greeter, Dennis is warm and friendly. The music team of 9 or so, play and sing and lead the people in great worship to our Lord. David, the pastor, preaches STRAIGHT from the Scriptures, and occasionally will toss in a little humour. David's son Nathan leads the Wednesday night Bible Study. There are celebratory feasts every month either between the 2 services, or after the 2ND service. Everyone is invited. A nice time of fellowship, with like minded people of all ages. There is a children's ministry and each summer they have Vacation Bible School, aka VBS. They have 2 15 seater church vans for transport. They were used last weekend to "head to the beach" for a Bbq and 9 person baptism in the OCEAN!! They do not "pass around a basket" for donations, there are boxes in the back where people can descreetly deposit, if they are able. There are 2 services on Sundays. 9 or 11am. The quaint church holds about 120. Before I even attended I read online "what they believe" and because it ALL lined up with my very beliefs, I knew I wanted to go. There are larger churches in the area. Several of our neighbours go to one of the larger churches and we have been invited to go with them. I found my Capitola church. I need to go no further than the 2 blocks from our new home."
