Hertz Car Rental - San Pedro West 6th Street HLE

"Demand a walk-around / assessment of the car before you rent it. Take your own pictures. This Hertz office charged me for cracks to the windshield that I do not believe I was responsible for; the employees at the Hertz where I returned the car admitted that the employees at this San Pedro office (where I'd rented the car) had not done their part and provided an internal assessment or photos of the car before renting it to me. I could not prove that I didn't crack the windshield, but they couldn't prove that I did."

"Avoid this one; they don't deliver cars on time and won't notify you in advance. They only inform you that there are no cars when you arrive, disrupting all your plans.without any apology, just tell you call 800. never met this before."

"I read all of the other reviews, so was a little concerned about renting from this location. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised with the San Pedro Hertz location. I walked to the location from the LA Cruise terminal and it was an easy walk. There were two agents at the site and opened promptly at 9am, Saturday morning. I even saw one of the agents before opening looking at the cars available. There were 4 other folks in line ahead of me also from the cruise terminal, but I still got in/out in about 10-15 minutes. Only downgrade I had was the car they gave me didn't have the gas tank full and it wasn't the exact model I wanted. It still was a great vehicle, clean, and got me around town. Overall, was satisfied and will rent from them again."

"Despite all the negative reviews, I decided to take a chance at this location and made a post-cruise reservation for a vehicle (one week rental and returning it to LAX) as it was much cheaper than other options (including taking the shuttle to LAX and picking up a rental car there). It was an easy 20 minute walk from the Princess ship to the counter. Reservation was for 8:30am and we got there at 9:00. There was only one agent on duty but only one person in line in front of me and no one came in after during the time I was there. Had to wait only a few minutes to be served and my reservation was there on the printout list for the day (along with about 10 others). I had booked the “Manager’s Special” which said it would be a compact or electric and it ended up being a Ford Edge (for the same discounted rate). No issues at all with availability of the vehicle and the agent got the keys for me right away. We were on our way within 10 minutes. So hopefully the past issues seem to have been corrected at the location now and I would not hesitate to recommend."

"Avoid at all cost. Had a reservation for a car that we booked months in advance that was to be picked up after we debarked from our cruise. We arrived to the office and waited over 20minutes with no employee anywhere in sight. Another customer informed us that they too had a reservation and that there were no cars available and they were instructed to wait. This seems to be a recurrent pattern at this location despite the pre- written response by the owner that states they strove to improve service. What a bunch of bull. We ended up renting from enterprise across the street as they had plenty of cars available and the employee there told us that this happened every single week so he was not at all surprised that it had happened to us. Again avoid unless you have hours to wait around."
