"Wide trail with mild climbs and nice scenery. Trail has two distinct environments: rolling green hills with cows and rock outcroppings, and beautiful redwoods. About 5-6 parking spaces at trailhead, but other random spots nearby. Gets very muddy after rain. Great scenic lookout right near beginning of trail - rock outcropping on edge of ridge at left of trail (can't miss it). Mountain biking wise, its a long steady grind, a blue box intermediate with nothing technical except for some small rocks and roots to rollover on a few uphill parts. Deepy rutted in a few places."
"I picked a very hot day for my hike (forecast for 80 but over 90), and this is a fairly exposed ridge trail. Come on a typical cool Point Reyes day and it is a lovely walk through a mix of open grassland and oak woods. A bonus today was the abundant blackberries!"
"Beautiful 13.7 mile hike if you start at the Trailhead then go and do the bolinas ridge loop. If you do it counter clockwise it is not a very steep climb trail, plus you can stop at the camp to top off water and rest for a minute. Plenty of shade for the majority of the hike. Was amazed how green it still was for this time of the year for being in a drought. Was not as crowded as one would think."
"A great trail to run/walk/stroll around. Great views of the rolling hills, Tomales Bay, and lots of cows along the way. There is no shaded trail at the start and you’ll have to go about 3 miles in to start getting some shaded spots, so pack that sunscreen. No restrooms or picnic tables either. Dogs are allowed here, but be sure to have them on a tight leash with cows around. Trail is shared by hikers and bicyclists."
"The lighthouse was closed for some reason today so we opted for a nice walk on the first leg of the Bolinas Ridge Trail. It was nice, fairly warm and definitely sunnyish. Keep an eye out for cyclists coming downhill and listen for their bells. Oh and the cows, stay clear of cows especially if you have a dog with you. They can become alarmed and charge (at you) when ‘under threat’. There were connections to the trail we took that would have zippered you some 11 miles. Oh, there was some tick activity so definitely check your clothing and animals so you don’t get bitten"
