"2024 Eats; "LA" #3, Korean #3: this was previously Gombo Wang, a Korean restaurant we'd come to for naengmyeon and mandu. During our quick visit to LA, we ate at Hanmi three times (once for lunch, once for dinner, and once via takeout). While I liked Gombo Wang, I think Hanmi is a definite improvement. The biggest improvement and my favorite thing about Hanmi is their banchan--it's delicious. Across our visits, we ordered bo ssam, nakji bokkeum, naengmyeon, buchu jeon x2, bulgogji x2, daeji bulgogi, and agu jjim (and I feel like I'm forgetting something). The bo ssam is very good, and they give you a _ton_ of food/meat. The buchu jeon was very, very good as well. Their bulgogis are much better than Chil Po (Artesia; where we previously would get bulgogi for takeout). I think for the most part everything is priced pretty fairly. Soju comes in around ~$10-11. Service is very attentive (though I don't think it's ever been extremely busy when we visit). They regularly refill our banchan which is nice, too. The restaurant is clean, but in terms of ambiance, I think it leaves quite a bit to be desired. Highly recommend Hanmi as this has become our go-to if no one feels like cooking. I'm sure I'll be back the next time I visit (greater) LA."
"This is a clean Korean restaurant. The remodel has made it much better. The new owner is very clean and friendly. The menu is diverse and delicious, making it a great place to enjoy authentic Korean flavors. I appreciated being able to truly experience the taste of Korea. However, it would be nice if the portion of rice could be increased to help balance the salty and spicy flavors of the main dishes. Since everyone's appetite varies, it's unfortunate that there is an additional charge for extra rice. The service is friendly, and the wait time for food is reasonable, which I appreciated. Update If you're looking for authentic Korean cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. Known for its robust and deeply flavorful dishes, it reflects the essence of traditional Korean taste. While the place can get quite busy, this is a testament to its popularity and the quality of its food. To fully enjoy the flavors, consider visiting during less crowded times. Each dish here is distinct yet perfectly highlights its unique taste. For a true taste of traditional Korean richness, this small but highly appealing restaurant is highly recommended."
"Very good traditional Korean food. You won't find any weird fusion food here, just good traditional food. Service is excellent and staff is very friendly and attentive."
"I love their food. My family loves to go here. It is hearty Korean food just like what my mom makes. I recommend fish jjim , bossam, altang"
