"Quite simply the freshest oysters you can get ANYWHERE. I always take visitors for a stop here if we're heading through the area, and its always such a pleasure to enjoy fresh off the boat oysters that taste as clean and crisp as the salty air blowing off the estuary you're looking out at! After coming here, I can't really enjoy oysters at restaurants anymore...it just doesn't cut it!"
"I had one of the best times ever at Drakes. The oysters are delicious, and you have to work for them. I'd recommend bringing your own gloves/towels so that you can grip the oysters better. Make sure if you're not familiar with shucking oysters, you have someone show you, or youtube a video :). Just stick it in the back of the oyster, that's the easiest way. Also, we brought our own drinks and it seemed like no one had an issue with that. Great for summer days."
"Keep Drakes Bay Oyster Co. open! Environmentalists want to close everything down. This place isn't harming anything! People and wildlife co-exist here. Don't believe any lies about pollution! The oysters actually help to keep the water clear! KEEP IT OPEN! SIGN THE PETTITION!!!"
"A friend recommended this place to us so we decided to go. The drive from San Francisco is a little too windy but when we finally made it there it was worth the trip. Remember this if you eat a lot of oysters.. car sickness might not be pretty after the feast. 5 dozen delicious medium size fresh oysters for $50 is unbeatable, and if you come with more people that we did and get even more oysters the price keeps getting better, up to 50 cents each if you buy 10 dozens or more. They can't offer you shucking knives (liability), so remember to bring your own unless you want to pay $2 per oyster. The view of Schooner Bay from the back on a sunny day is stunning, if you love RAW oysters this place is a must."
"Oysters were tasty and fresh, no doubt. Maybe variety could be better. I have though some reservations about having to pay $12 for the knife to shuck them, and not being provided a clear explanation that was going to happen. I understand that they do that for liability reasons, surely someone threatened to sue them after hurting themselves, yet there has to be another way. Am I supposed to bring my knife at the restaurant? Should I sue the steak house that gives me a knife that cuts too much? Well, at least I now have my own knife ... next time I make it up there (a year from now?) I'll remember to bring it."
