Reviews
"On the 2nd Saturday of every 3rd week of the month, Bradenton's River Walk park benches are filled to capacity with patriotic supporters of the US Navy Submarine Service (also known as the Silent Service). Of the 2-3 races per event usually 1 vehicle can be witnessed if one of the racers "broaches" the surface (a faux pas in any country) while trying to out maneuver their competition. Although the favorites for many years have been the USS Narwhal (SSN 671), the USS Grayling (SSN 646) & the USS Greenling (SSN 614) many have been represented during this monthly All-Star tradition including the USS Batfish, USS Sandlance, USS Ray, USS Sea Horse, USS Shark & USS Hammerhead. Since the 2002 debacle (where the Sandlance & Shark tangled their sail planes) a spectacular New Years Eve event called the Land Shark has occurred just after midnight but has yet to be captured by any camera. Although it was cancelled last year, rumor has it this Fourth of July the USS Patrick Henry (SSBN-599) will be putting on a light show titled ... "I know not what others may choose but give me fireworks or give me beer"!"
