Originally from South Africa, Dr. Burt's journey has been one of diverse cultural experiences. She spent nine years in South Africa before moving to Brazil, where she became fluent in Portuguese. In 1994, she moved to the United States to advance her education. Dr. Burt holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from Union University in Tennessee and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Burt enjoys a variety of hobbies, including boating, shopping, and traveling with her family. Her family adventures often include RV trips to explore the stunning national parks across the United States. As a mother, she cherishes creative activities such as rock painting, drawing, and arts-and-crafts with her three young children. Additionally, Dr. Burt is passionate about running and cooking.
