"Best hospital ER I've visited in my life. I reside in California but was in Tampa this past weekend. Right as I was going to board my five hour flight home, crippling back pain seeped up on me. While I was relucant to do such for obvious reasons, I notified the local Fire/EMS and police for assistance. Thank goodness they took me to HCA Florida South Tampa (RE: "Memorial"). Dr. Kaivon Madani, Dr. Nicholas Healy and the entire staff could not have been more professional, friendly and overall amazing in their treatment. I'm thankfully on a nice road to recovery. If you have to spend an extra day in Tampa over medical deficits, look no further than HCA Florida South Tampa and, in particular, these fabulous physicians. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!"
"I do not recommend Memorial Hospital/HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital, Emergency Room service. I am a senior living alone, & on Saturday, after 2 days of being unable to get up, because of cervical spine issue and the room spinning whenever I attempted to move, in desperation, I called 911 for help. The Emergency Medical Technicians, EMT, arrived promptly & per their recommendation was taken to Memorial Hospital, since was told my assigned hospital, TGH, had no capacity. I was strapped on a carrying bed & placed in the back of the van. The EMT asked me again for my name, & since it was a difficult for him to understand me, I showed him my Medicare card that was in my wallet, he asked me for my wallet, to see my medicare card, & without permission he started looking through it, this made me uncomfortable; then he called Memorial Hospital Emergency Room to let them know they were bringing me in. The call was answered by a woman that was an-overly-happy-joker that started joking with the EMT, & he happily replied back to her jokes, & this went on back & forth, while he holds my wallet & peruses through it, completely unconcerned about my situation, I was strapped in & suffocating, I lost all my trust & respect for the EMT, & I no longer trusted the situation, I grabbed my wallet back from the EMT, & told him I have lost my trust. We got to Memorial Hospital Emergency Room & the woman in the lobby, which I assume was the same person that answered the phone call, was still in a festive-party-mood while sadly there was a gentleman in a bed, with curtains open, in dire-unhealthy, not looking well condition plugged into IV, & me, of course, the newly incoming not well. The jolly receptionist grabbed the attention of the EMTs, I was left strapped in the bed suffocating, I unstrapped myself & cried in desperation. An unkind woman & Dr. Gomez showed up, & they asked me in a threatening-way “why are you here”, I was unable to explain myself, because I was not well, but I did realized it was not a good situation, for my needed medical care, so I got up and went towards the exit door, the doctor tried to stop me, but the unkind woman said, let her go, & fortunately I made it out of Memorial Hospital, emergency medical care."
"I would like to personally thank Dr. Healy, Dr. Albazi, Dr. Markel, Drake, and all the nurses/intake/registration staff who helped me while I was seen in the ER. Needing emergency care can leave you feeling vulnerable and scared, especially when an ER is overwhelmed with patients. However, from the moment I walked in I felt so comforted, validated, and attended. All members of the staff with whom I interacted has been so helpful, calming, and considerate of my needs/circumstances and have gone above and beyond to accommodate me. I will recommend this team forever and ever. Thank you so much for helping me during such a scary time. I will always remember my time at memorial as I currently work through medical school. I aspire to care for my patients the way I was cared for this weekend. Feeling heard makes a world of a difference. Thank you again - Abigail"
"Came here because of a flu that got complicated. They sat me in a room for 2 and a half hours with no attention whatsoever, tried to leave at least three times and they rudely announced that there were no medical personnel available because they were busy with other patients (it was 6am and the place was empty). When finally a physician came and checked me in 5 min, at least he was the only nice person. After a few weeks I got a bill for $9,000 dollars. YES, NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. After my insurance got in I “ONLY” had to pay $2,400. Everyone knows American health system is a joke but seriously, this place has zero ethics or consideration for the people. They are THIEVES. They did nothing more than sitting me for two and a half hours waiting to charge for that time and make me a COVID test for $9,000 dollars"
"I would give this hospital a 10 star if I could! Everyone, doctors and staff, all the way from the head charge nurse to the janitorial team, are kind and giving and caring!! What an amazing culture they have created at this hospital. I am grateful for the amazing care my mom received during her 8 day stay. THANK YOU!!!!"
