"The staff working the desk and answering the phones are unprofessional (at best). I "was" being seen here but realized (after dealing with rude and lazy employees) that I needed to take my care elsewhere because what I received from FL Kidney Physicians on Hibiscus was a joke. They failed to tell me (after me making three calls) that the provider I was seeing there had left and that I needed to wait months to get in with a new provider (when my need was urgent), and they were rude when I asked why I wasn't informed of needing to schedule with a new Dr prior to me calling them. Apparently they get enough business so they don't need to give a damn about the patients. I advise you read the other reviews and then go elsewhere if you truly want a Dr. and staff that will give a damn about your health.... beware....."
"Where to lay the blame??? So often we just follow the recommendation of our primary care physician when seeking a specialist. How can we shop around when we don't actually know what it is that the specialist will be doing for us? I avoided this practice for two years after my initial visit due to billing trouble and their referral to an out of network urologist who could not view my ultrasound. Consequently, I stuck with my primary care doc only to have a serious drop in kidney function recently. Dr. Kriete at FKP is fine, but he suggested a new drug which requires prior authorization, and we are having trouble getting that approval. As a patient I have no idea what goes on between the doc and the insurance carrier and thus don't know where to focus my anger. It's very frustrating when all you're trying to do is take care of yourself by following the doctor's instructions and worry that delays in care or medication makes your condition worse."
"Absolutely the WORST place to go if you need a nephrologist. Office manager RUDE and caught LYING. When confronted, about it told me that I had an attitude. I suppose I do when someone lies to my face. At NO TIME did I EVER raise my voice or use foul language. Both receptionists could not have been more nice and helpful. They both tried to reschedule my appointment for the next day. The office manager, on the other hand, is a LIAR. She said I could not be seen until January. Both receptionists said there were 2 appointments available for the next day. The manager made me my appointment for the next day, and then waited until I left the office to have the receptionist call me back to tell me that, “Dr. Spies would not see me and the referral has been declined.” I had to get another referral from my doctor for another nephrologist. Unfortunately, the second doctor I was referred to is also affiliated with this nightmare of an office. I did not know this when I called to make an appointment with the second doctor. I don’t think that my MD was aware of this either. I was informed by a receptionist that I have been discharged from the ENTIRE practice and that NONE of the physicians from Florida Kidney Physicians will accept my MD’s referral. This has now delayed care for a week now and delay of care may now extend into February or March because of this HORRIBLE place. Dr. SPIES, if he is even aware of how awful his office manager at the 111 Hibiscus Ave location, is completely unprofessional and I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM OR HIS PRACTICE."
"Both tamer and spies refused a referral for me from my doctor. I do not know them so it must be they do not want to treat a senior citizen. Sounds like age discrimimation. I am thinking about seeing what the state licensing Board thinks of this issue. Terry Skaggs"
"The referral system is haphazard and will make you pay extra due to their disorganized methods."
