Reviews
"Ease of use. Liked the free brass key. All keys worked in the lock when I got home."
"Generally easy to use. However, the key that I got, based on the master key, did NOT work in the lock. It actually got stuck in the lock and took a lot of time and effort to remove. I won't use this service again."
"I had 3 keys cut at the kiosk at Lowe's in Estero, FL and not one of them worked to unlock my front door. When I told the service department at Lowe's when I went back to get a refund, I was told they have had tis problem any times before and that's why they have put their own key cutting system in that only a store employee can use. I will never try Minute Key Again."
"We used a machine in Lowes since we were not able to find any help to have a human make one. I was able to pick out a Miami Dolphins key and it worked successfully upon use when I got home. I’m happy with how the machine worked and I’d use it again."
"SUMMARY: GOOD: Nice to have kiosk since Lowes staff-manned machine couldn't copy a padlock key (He didn't say they were out of padlock blanks; he said they couldn't copy my key, even though Ace Hardware guy could make a copy.) If you need 2 keys, save money this way=> NOTE if you request a single key at $4, you will be later asked if you'd like an extra copy for $1.49 (or thereabouts). Otherwise, you'll pay $8 + tax for two keys and get a free third key you didn't need -- assuming the Free third key works, which it didn't for me. The three key copies I made do work in the padlock. BAD: => I haven't received email acknowledgement of my Refund Request sent two days ago. Professional companies have automated responses that at least acknowledge receipt of the request, even if it takes longer to process the request. This lack of professionalism does not lend confidence in this company. => $4 plus tax is a hefty price for a padlock key copy that requires no human assistance. => Kiosk *hides* the special price for two keys, by not offering the $1.49 for extra copy until you've already begun your transaction - WHY BE DECEPTIVE, MINUTEKEY? Hence, they typical customer will pay $8 plus tax for 2 keys (plus a third they didn't need), when they could have paid $5.49 or thereabouts. I prefer transparency to slimy marketing tactics. => Kiosk failed to produce third "free" key leading to frustration and wasted time. Since it isn't a "Lowe's" service, ordinary staff couldn't help me and I waited to talk to a manager about how to follow-up on a refund. => MinuteKey website made it extremely difficult to find the online form to request Refund for the extra key copy I had to pay for. BE SURE TO REQUEST EMAILED RECEIPT WHEN USING KIOSK. Though it's a pain to tap in my long email and I usually don't bother, I was glad to have the receipts to reference so I could enter transaction numbers and kiosk numbers into my Refund Request. OVERVIEW: As it happened, I needed three copies, so the "Buy 2 get one Free" offer brought the per-key price closer to reasonable. BUT THE KIOSK SERVICE FAILED, by creating two keys, then making noises as if creating the third, but never dropped a third key. Frustrating! I had to wait for a Lowes manager to explain I could request a refund and that "the company was good about that." So I paid $4.26 for a third key. Later went online to request a refund, which itself was not easy. There was no obvious navigation to a refund request, but I eventually got to a form (perhaps buried under the FAQ section? Can't remember.) Two days later, I have not received acknowledgement of my Refund Request, but I did get a generic email encouraging me to write this review."
