"My power has been out since 2am and they keep texting me my power is on while I sit here, in the dark, with my power out. I've spoken to 4 reps and been suffering all day! SEND OUT A DAMN TEXHNICIAN DUKE OR JUST GO OUT OF BUSINESS ALREADY!"
"I have been a Duke Energy customer for over 25 years and have always paid my monthly bill on time. Approximately 2 years ago, they stopped sending me a printed bill but rather sent me my bill as a text message on my phone. Because I didn't receive any message from them for February, March and April, they threatened me with a shut off. Suddenly they decided to send me a text message informing me of the shut off. Because of their incompetence, they charged me $5.00 for a late fee which I refuse to pay. I sent them exactly what I owe for those months."
"Do NOT use Duke. They will trash your credit score for no reason at all. They are claiming I still have an outstanding bill with them and I have proof that I have paid it. And whenever I call them they tell me my account is a $0 balance. I am sick of the games they play. They are telling collections I still owe something but then tell me I owe nothing! Get it right Duke. Do yourself a favor and save your credit score. This has destroyed my credit score and for a bill that was paid over a year ago!"
"I feel like you guys come up with your bill amounts out of thin air. Paid nearly 400 the last two months, even passed due and am being charged $150 disconnect fee (electricity hasn't been disconnected and the woman on the phone I'm speaking with RN has had 15+ minutes to explain and is still reviewing my account. If I had another option for energy service, I'd definitely not be a customer. You guys are insanely expensive, especially charging me with 2 back to back $150 late fees. I can't wait to be able to take my money else where."
"I have been completely scammed by Duke Energy. I recently made the mistake of signing up for the shared solar program, which in itself was incredibly confusing to navigate. There's no department phone line for shared solar, so the only way to get information was speaking with people from other departments in Duke, who were not experts, but who came to the same conclusion as I did, that you could help support clean energy and perhaps save a few dollars on your bill. Well I was so wrong. For the past few months, I've been getting charged $100 extra a month for shared solar fees. Nothing else has changed on my bill. I'm just giving Duke extra of my hard earned money for the hell of it. I've been calling for over a month, trying to cancel my shared solar subscription and to see about reimbursement. Nobody ever seems to know how to help and since there's no phone line for that department, all they can do is give me an email address, to which no one responds to after emailing for over a month. Finally I spoke to someone today, asking why on earth anyone would pay for shared solar and see nothing in return, and they said "well that's the program". I begged them to please just tell me, is there any benefit to being on shared solar. Their answer, to my shock, was that there was no benefit and that employees from Duke even raised these concerns when the program was established. So there you have it, DUKE just scammed me out of my own money. I feel so taken advantage of and I hope nobody makes this same mistake."
