"I am deeply frustrated with my experience with the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. The entire process has been marred by extended processing times, inadequate updates, and a complete lack of clarity in their responses. The processing time has been excessively long (almost three months), leaving me in a state of uncertainty and frustration. I expected a more efficient and timely handling of my case, but instead, I was met with unnecessary delays and a lack of communication. The Board's failure to provide regular updates has been incredibly disappointing. It would have been immensely helpful to receive periodic status reports or even a basic acknowledgment of my inquiries. My portal has not been updated since the first week of June. Instead, I was left in the dark, wondering about the status of my application or concern without any clear direction. When I did receive responses, they were often vague and unhelpful. The lack of clear and specific information only added to my frustration, as I struggled to understand the next steps or requirements. The responses I received did little to address my concerns or provide meaningful guidance. This experience has been profoundly unhelpful and disheartening."
"Today marks 3 months since i've submitted my application along with my documents. I haven't heard back and even i call i get dismissed or even hung up on in the middle of me asking how much longer it's going to take. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I understand there is only one processor but there needs to be more people in this department working to speed up this process."
"If I could give 0 stars, I would. I am not typically the type of person to willingly take time out of my day to write something negative, however the Department of Health must be aware of this Florida Boards lack of willingness to do their jobs. This experience with the Board has been terrible due to the lack of professionalism and rudeness that this board seems to thrive in. I have been awaiting my provisional license for over 3 months with my documentation sitting in an inbox for over two and a half months. No one replies to emails in logical timeliness, the likelihood for someone answering the phone is about 20%, and they never confirm if they've received physical mail-in documents. If you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone, the rudeness of the secretary will be sure to let you know how they feel about their jobs."
"I am the owner of a multidisciplinary clinic here in Florida, and I am deeply disappointed with how long the board is taking to process applications. Whoever the processor is at the moment, claims to be the only processor in the state of Florida and that is a huge problem if that’s true. We recently hired a CF who graduated in early May and It is now July 10 and she has still not been able to obtain licensure despite multiple failed attempts to contact the board. It is Florida state law that license applications be reviewed within 30 days and since this is clearly not being abided by, I will be filing a complaint with the Florida State Dept. of Health. As an SLP myself, this board is failing our field and the clients we are dedicated to serving! On a final note, whoever is the current processor needs to be terminated. I tried calling myself on behalf of the CF we hired and not only did she not make sense and did not know what she was doing, but she was also very rude."
"Very disappointed in my experience currently. Emailed a required document for provisional licensure to email address listed on form. After calling to inquire about an update, I was informed that the email on the form did not receive attachments. If this is the case the form needs to be corrected/updated. After forwarding the document to the "correct" email, I received no update on whether the document was received nor an update within the application portal. I called to speak to a representative and was told the document will be moved to processing. After a month waiting and checking within the portal for updates (there were none), I called again only to be told that they had indeed received the document months ago, however it was never sent into processing at all. I am extremely frustrated at this time. I hope the department will grow in terms of efficiency when dealing with licensure applications."
