"Terrible software. Did not work as advertised. We would’ve been better served using the rule function within QuickBooks Online. Transactions were almost always coded incorrectly which required our teams input into their awful user interface - we would’ve much rather done the fixing in QBO. Their learning algorithm was a joke. If it’s based on our input, it’s not “learned”. We had regular team meetings that didn’t seem to accomplish much. The people were great but it didn’t circumvent the useless of their tool. We expected a more hands off experience, giving us the ability to advise our clients more and do less leg work. Instead it tarnished a number of client relationships, and we had to employ our team to go back and fix all of the books that we assigned to botkeeper. Stay away. Just used QuickBooks more deliberately."
"Good luck trying to cancel this service. I had a very good onboarding experience but this ended up not being a good fit for our clients. If you need an accounting team who is dynamic and can make common sense decisions autonomously this is not the place to go. If you need to just have some bot churn through categorizations blindly this is your one stop shop! look no further! Ever wanted to get questioned about the nature of a transaction relentlessly only to answer and provide context and STILL have the transaction catagorized improperly?? Botkeeper is the way to go! Ever have a client add or remove accounts into quickbooks? Well get ready for some extra steps just to make sure it gets reconciled and get ready for buggy email notifications. We have literally terminated all our clients that were in botkeeper over two months. Just got an email about a task I apparently have to do. I really find the team to be extremely pleasant. These people are all amazing and helpful but regarding the actual service component this has been a huge waste of money and time."
"Bad Experience with their CLEAN-UP Team. Kept doing things wrong. Got our client upset. I sent messages and responses asking them to stop doing it wrong. It was like they didn't read English. Filled out Help Ticket on JIRA, and still they didn't stop. This went on for 3 days. They created more clean up work that they solved. You can't call or email the person directly, you have to go through their portal. Finally, we had to disconnect to stop them from continuing to do it wrong."
"Got up this morning to find my business account overdrawn. Botkeeper withdrew over $3,000 from my account without any advanced warning. I received an immediate response from Botkeeper to resolve the issue. It's not what happens when everything goes according to plan that proves the worth of a company, but how they handle the snafu's that occur in every business life and what they learn from it. Botkeeper's actions and reactions were right on cue. I am grateful to still be working with Botkeeper."
"I think this company be a great resource, but they obviously have a lot kinks to work out. Originally, when I reached out to them, over a year ago, it wasn't a good fit because I did not meet their limit of having 5 bookkeeping clients. I wanted to use them to grow the bookkeeping side of my business, not grow then implement usage of their software. I completely understood the minimum requirement and let it be. Recently, I received a call that they changed their minimum requirement and that they would like to be part of the solution to growing. So, I took time out to do the demo, which was hard because tax season is already in play. I get on the call, just for the lady to say it wouldn't be a good fit because of the number of bookkeeping clients. It was a complete waste of my time and I just wish they would figure what they can and cannot do."
