Reviews of American Red Cross Blood Donation Center
"I've donated many times at this location over the past four years. Although their staff are friendly and helpful, there is not enough (managerial/staff) attention paid to monitoring the plasma machine (there is only one machine at the location) and how it affects donors. I have shown up twice now to a scheduled appointment where I'm told the machine broke down earlier in the day so I wouldn't be able to donate plasma. I live at least 30 minutes away so I waste my time and gas when this happens. You would think once the machine is confirmed broken, that the staff would contact the other plasma donors scheduled for that day and ask them to reschedule. Guess what, it did happen once when I was on my way to the appointment years ago; a staff person called to inform me that the plasma machine had broken down, was apologetic, and kindly asked me to reschedule the appt. So I know this can be done. It's unclear why this is no longer happening/considered as part of the process."
"Today was my first time donating blood, and I had a decent experience here. Much better than I expected. The receptionist was nice, and I felt welcomed. The wait time was minimal. Then, the phlebotomist took care of me. She checked that I was eligible to donate and stayed with me throughout the process, giving advice and making me comfortable. I was nervous. I nearly passed out at the end, but she promptly brought smth cold and juice - which helped me a lot. However, the feeling of support and care helped much more. At the very end - welcome to the recovery area. A few tables, a good selection of cookies, water or juice, informational materials, and stickers. I spent as much time there as I wanted to."
"the staff here are INCREDIBLE! i have done two donations here and both of my experiences have been wonderful. the staff are so good at what they do and they have so much joy and cheer, even late in the evening. Tirufat was my phlebotomist both times and she is simply amazing. Latifah also checked me in both times and she is so friendly and reassuring! i highly recommend donating blood here—it doesn’t take long and it’s such a great way to give back."
"I am a person with small and hard-to-find veins, and when it's found, the flow rate is slow. But the phlebotomist who worked with me patiently and gently made my donation successful! The chairs are super comfortable and the staff is very knowledgeable. They are indeed short staffed, so be patient with the wait time!"
"Donated a “Power Red” today and had an excellent experience. Haven’t donated in years and will be enthusiastic to return to this location and team to donate again soon. Esther was especially wonderful in her care of me throughout the process."
