"Great lab if you have a child or teenager who is really afraid of needles. The phlebotomists are amazing, caring and have lots of experience dealing with difficult situations. The wait can be long, but worth it. It's gotten better in the past year, longest wait time has been 45 min without an appointment."
"Very poor experience. Receptionist was very rude and unprofessional. She either didn’t speak english or extremely poor and dismissive. Doesn’t care about the health of my child and made no attempt to even reply to my request. Gross person, I would list her name if I knew it. She was the receptionist friday july 12 2024 in the morning. (In case the pharmacy cares). The tech was also poorly trained and told me one poke for my child and two were given. Place is trash."
"Both of my daughters had awful experiences at this lab multiple times. The (same) female technician gave one a hematoma (and basically shrugged it off) and then kept poking the other complaining that it wasn't working but never told her to bend her arm! And then she looked at me as if my (quiet and compliant) kid was the problem! You would think that a laboratory at a children's hospital would have someone who could work with children (especially kids who are older and extremely compliant and never complain even when they should). Appalled at the lack of professionalism and competence here!"
"Medical professionals 'should' be inclined to tend to the patients' and/or their guardian/s, should they not? Well, in a case of Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego. Under their "Who We Are" Section, in the "sub-section," it states "putting patients first." Well, a nurse by the name of Judy did not demonstrate excellence in undertaking that "statement" as a "medical professional who works there." To further explain where I am coming from, I recently went to check on my child's allergies and see if they had any or if we should be on the lookout for anything that might be detrimental in their daily routines. To continue, we went for a lab draw (blood draw) and I asked that we needed a extra hand to help with the lab work, the nurse declined, of course... Moving on, when the nurse inserted the needle for the lab work on my child's arm. They did not, I stress, they did not show "excellence in patient care." My child was in PAIN and crying, clearly, but they did not prioritize the patient's needs, but the lab work itself. They continued to move the needle around while it was inserted in my child's arm...like WHAT? So, my question is, does the patient not come first? Well, in this experience in the laboratory in Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego, for this specific nurse, that was not the case."
