"My experience with Dr. Cabrera was terrible. He is part of a physicians group that includes a urologist. I called the urologist in his group for the purpose of getting a urine culture and sensitivity test. The urologist was booked until next week, but their staff kindly offered an appointment today with Dr Cabrera, a general practitioner, who could perform the necessary test today. Though it was not necessary to actually see a doctor to provide a urine sample, the staff at Dr. Cabrera's office INSISTED that my elderly relative see him as part of the visit to provide the urine sample. They collected all the patient's information and documents including insurance numbers and very personal information. They set the appointment for later today. About an hour later, Dr. Cabrera's office called back with yet more questions about the purpose of the visit. And about an hour after that, they called again. At this point, there was less than 3 hours before the scheduled appointment. The secretary told me that she had spoken with Dr Cabrera, and that the doctor REFUSED to see her. When I repeated what I said earlier that we really didn't need to see the doctor but simply needed a urine culture and sensitivity performed, she got angry at me and told me that the doctor refused to see the patient (even after INSISTING on seeing the patient earlier today) and also refused to provide the necessary medical test. I was shocked. As someone who cares for an elderly relative, I have dealt with MANY doctors offices over the last 10 years and have NEVER experienced a complete refusal of medical treatment. I asked the reason that Dr. Cabrera refused to see the patient and the secretary quipped that she needed a referral from a primary care physician (I already had a referral from the patient's urologist in another state). In response, I reminded the snotty secretary that Dr. Cabrera was a primary care physician, to which she responded that I should take her to the emergency room or urgent care instead. That was the end of the conversation, and Dr. Cabrera, under no circumstances, was willing to provide necessary medical care. I am completely appalled by this experience, and was impelled to write this review of Dr. Cabrera for everyone to be forewarned if his violation of the Hippocratic Oath and his legal responsibilities. If the patient's insurance is charged anything for this fiasco, I will come back and add to this review with additional details."
