"I would never want to see anyone have the misfortune of being under their “Tendercare”."
"Beautiful home; ok staff. In the beginning, like most things, everything was going great. There was only my son and one other consumer. As the home was taking in more people, more staff was coming on board. One of the things I cautioned the owner about was my son's behavior, which is part of his disability. This home not only prided themselves on the beauty of their home, but on the fact that they were not a 'ghetto' home. They claim they don't hire family. That turned out to be a lie. They were not a ghetto home. It is a beautiful large and spacious home. Always kept clean. However, they did hire family. The difference with this home is that they held some type of credential. Either current or previous (retired) in the medical field. I applaud the standard. The problem with hiring mom, brother, cousin, or sister is that when a problem arises, especially where mom is concerned, the owner failed to do her job. She would ALWAYS believe her mother over my son without realizing that her mother was an instigator. If her mother did not like someone, you knew it. She would act one way when people were around and another way when it was just my son and her. They said they would NEVER ask anyone to leave the home. I told them I would not hold them to it. They had to ask my son to leave the home because they did not want to deal with his type of behavior issues. They only want people with disabilities in their home that were obedient and easy to care for. They are looking for the easy money; and this is the wrong field to be in for that. After moving my son out we learned that he received a large amount of food stamps (during the hurricane) and someone spent almost $300 towards groceries. My son can not eat that much groceries in a month and is not required to supply food for the home. Since they are not required to keep food stamp receipts it was easy for them to fraud both my son and the government."
