Reviews of HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital Emergency Room
"Staff was friendly and considerate. The ER doctor (Meisner) had okay bedside manner at best, but somehow missed a kidney stone, a cyst, and an infection. After he reviewed my lab results, I explained I was in pain he looked at me and said “Are you sure it’s not gas? A cramp maybe?” It was dismissive, patronizing, and failed to identify what was wrong. I would give this place a zero if I could, despite the friendly support staff."
"I was in the hospital for 3 days, starting in the ER and then was admitted. Every staff member I encountered was super nice and helpful. Some that stood out was Anje on night shift she was a tech. Kristen a charge nurse. Ashley a nurse. Puddin Tane (Shannon) in the surgery recovery room. Dr Teytlebaum made sure I had all the necessary tests and hand picked my surgeon Dr Fansler. Dr Fansler did an excellent job, I did not need any pain meds since the recovery room. Thank you for making my first hospital stay as positive an experience that it could be."
"This is one of the best Emergency Rooms I have ever visited. The staff are all so kind and professional. Excellent example of how an ER should operate. Thank you!"
"If I could give 0 stars I would. I don’t normally leave reviews unless I absolutely love a place. But I felt like I needed to warn people especially those with kids not to go here!!! I brought my 1 year old son because he had a fever and I wanted to get him checked for an ear infection. When we got into the hospital there was no one at the front desk, the curtain was closed in the triage office, and the kiosk was flashing and eventually went black so we couldn’t check in. We waited for 40 mins until someone finally came to talk to us and Check us in and the nurse looked panicked when we told her we wanted our son to be seen. They made him sit on the adult scale (because they didn’t have a baby one) which resulted in the wrong weight being taken twice which means none of his meds were correct dosage. Then she needed to take his rectal temperature and DROPPED THE THERMOMETER ON THE FLOOR BEFORE SHE PUT IT IN MY SON! She did it so fast I couldn’t even say anything until after it was already done. Then they put us in a room with a dirty sheet on the bed that looked like a huge wet stain and they still had a saw out from cutting through someone’s cast or something and bottles of iv cleaning liquid that were half used. Then the doctor couldn’t look in my sons ears because he was freaking out which wasn’t really his fault, but he kinda said he didn’t know what was going on and was going to order ibuprofen for him. The nurse came in before he ordered the ibuprofen with a syringe full of medicine. He asked her infront of us what the medication was and she said “ibuprofen” and he said “I didn’t even order that yet how did you get that” and she didn’t know what to say and we had to ask her to go get the container to prove to us it was ibuprofen because it could’ve overdosed him if it was Tylenol since he already had received a full dose of Tylenol just before we got there. We ended up just walking out because we weren’t comfortable with the care we received it just seemed so unsanitary and unsafe and very disorganized and definitely not baby-friendly. Do not recommend this place."
"Went in the other day, per my gynecologist advice. I had a wonderful experience. All the nurses and doctors were so kind and seemed to genuinely cared. Hospital is very very clean. Wait time, I was in a room less than 5 mins. I don’t want to go into all the details on how sick I was but I left there feeling pretty content. They weren’t able to fix me but I as able to get my pain level in control. Only reason why I’m giving them a 3 star. I had to come back the next day again per my gynecologist advice. This time I was treated horribly by an ER physician name Dr Santana . His tone of voice his words so aggressive towards me like he was upset that I was there again. At the time I’m in a lot of pain I’m not in my right mind I was weak and didn’t have the strength to speak. He kept saying to us that he will not treat me. My symptoms worsen over night. It clearly says on discharge papers if symptoms worsen to come back. I called my gynecologist to ask what should I do, he sent me back to the ER! I’m only doing what my doctor said to do. Don’t be upset with me. I’m sorry Dr Santana that your having such a bad morning and you had to take it out on me. Please get it together if something happen to me it would of been your fault for turning me away. After I left the hospital and went to my doctors office, my blood pressure rises to 170/120!!!!! I felt like I was dying! You should be ashamed of yourself Dr Santana ."
