At Gaines Chapel, we offer fellowship with our loving Savior, membership in His church, and citizenship in His eternal kingdom. We also encourage our congregation to remember the sick and shut-in with your prayers and visits, as they greatly appreciate your kindness and support.

Our church is actively preparing for the upcoming Southwest Annual Conference, a special event that unites us in our shared mission: “God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, the Holy Spirit Our Comforter, Humankind Our Family.” Together, we strive to make Christ known to all His children.

Our dedicated leadership is exemplified by Pastor Cleitis Walker, a devoted servant of God with a rich background in both education and community service. Pastor Walker, a 1979 graduate of Vigor High School, has been a steadfast employee at Alabama Power for 38 years. He and his wife, Sharon, have been happily married for 37 years and are proud parents and grandparents.

We are also blessed by the guidance of Reverend Antonio R. Thomas, a seasoned leader with a wealth of experience in ministry and community development. Reverend Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Ministry. His notable roles include serving as the treasurer of the Tuscaloosa Ministerial Alliance and President of the 9th Episcopal District AME Church Economic Development Ministry. Reverend Thomas is a devoted father and grandfather, and he currently serves as the newly appointed Elder of the Celebrated Camden District AME Church of the Southwest Conference.
