"I contacted Marra Motorcars regarding a collector car they had on the lot. Mr. Marra was kind enough to meet me at the lot on Memorial Day. The car a 1963 Sunbeam Alpine was the vehicle is was looking at. The paint on the car was incorrect based on the VIN and coach plate numbers. The paint was probably less than 5 years old although Mr. Marra told me the paint was original to the car which he said was previously owned by a little old later for 45 years who visited every year to have a photo taken with the car since he put it in his collection. I asked him to call her so that I could talk to her about the car and he hemmed and hawed saying he had no contact info from a woman whose car he purchased. Closer examination revealed based on my experience with British sports I located bondo in several places, rust on the metal under the dash. He would not let me test drive it until we settled on a price (no paperwork or deposit) The car cranked and as soon as we started it began sputtering and clunking. The tank was nearly empty and there were also issues with the steering box or other front wheel parts. We limped it back to the dealer and I left. I have purchased quite a few cars in my life and have dealt with good and bad car dealerships. Mr. Marra is an old school car salesman, and will spin quite the yarn to make a sale. he promised to address the issues and get back to me. On that he was true to his word. But it still begs to ask why he did not have the car ready for showing when I got there? The story of the little old lady was priceless and might even have worked on others. I am not angry or bitter at Mr. Marra's old school sled lot tactics, In fact, I rather enjoyed how far he was going to keep trying to get me to buy a car I know is not collector accurate or a vehicle that is definitely going to need a lot of work poured into it. I would never purchase a car from them, but some people have little choice but to visit these high mileage car sled lots. Two stars strictly for entertainment value of the visit."
"My experience with Marra, I purchased Slk55 in August 2023. I couldn't ship it to Alaska immediately. He kept it in his Garage from August 2023 .till I shipped it to Anchorage Alaska on December 2023. Tony was very polite respectful and he changed replaced both rear tiers for a brand new. He took my car to the mechanic to change all the oil to Alaska weather. He never charged me to keep my car inside his garage all this time. He was very honest with me from the beginning. Even when I received the car. When I receivedthe car . The car was un great shape. I cannot Thank him enough to help me get my dream car. Hope one day I will travel to Florida and visit him in person. Thank you again Tony"
"I'm a real buyer. If I were to put a star rating, I would give them about 3.7 to 4.2 out of 5 plus extra points for helping me resolve some issues after the sale. Plus, they gave me the option to buy additional add-ons to enhance the car at my request (they never asked me to buy anything extra, I asked them if I can purchase it). Overall, I'm happy with the purchase as I would never buy a $90k car any other way. I brought an old used car with tons of miles from them at an affordable price that I'm willing to pay. I am happy with what I got. Used cars will always have issues. Marra Motors is just a car dealership. They just sale cars, they don't build or make them. They are actually hard working. I have witnessed them physically working the few times I went there. Used cars will be used cars and will always have issues. Just know what you're getting into. I'm giving them a 5-star to offset all the negative 1 star review without any comment or photos. I've brought the Mercedes SL500 from them, and asked them to sell me the Panoramic Glass sunroof to enhance my vehicle, as well as the spoiler which he also gave to me for free. The car looks great but was missing a few things that kept the hard-top convertible and the remote keys from working. They have 6+ SL500 and some part cars and was able to give me some of the parts that I was missing. Altogether, I'm happy with my car. It runs. Have some issues. But for a 16yr old car and the price I paid for it.. I can't complain and expect the car to be in brand-new condition. As with any used car, just make sure you run through your checklist before making a purchase. I'm hoping to find another vehicle from them in the future that I like and will definitely purchase again."
"I have dreamed of someday owning an MGB - as those are my initials. And to find one in good shape with my birth year as well?! Marra had it! (I found the listing on Craig's List.) When I went to look at the car they didn't pressure me or anything. Very few words actually. Tony and his dad were really nice. They just took a copy of my license and sent me off with a tag to go play with the car. Trusting. (That kinda made me start to trust them. Ya know?) After a really fun cruise around the Ridge Road area I brought the car back, handed them the keys, and thanked them. I wanted to give it some thought. The next day I came back, drove it again, and went home. I called a little later, made an offer, they accepted, and I came to pick up my car. Tony did the paperwork in about 30 mins. Funny thing, I drove the car off the lot and it instantly "broke down" - seemingly. Well, these guys weren't like, "It's yours now." Not the case. They got tools ready and came out to help me fix it. All that was wrong was I accidentally hit the fuel pump switch. The shop. The first photo shows the car as I found it sitting in the corner of their indoor storage facility - housing about 10-15 beautiful European beauties! The place is clean too. I have seen some of these other reviews with bad grammar and unprofessional tones. You've got to consider that New Port Richey (where Marra is located) has a mix of demographics - including some low-lifes. I am sure Marra gets a fair share of people coming in to look at a Bimmer or a Benz thinking they can get it for a few thousand - and then bad mouthing when they realize that a late model German car costs a few bucks. LOL In any case, I had a great experience and it was simple. I bought this car with the "weekend driver" intent - having a 2016 Italian car in my driveway as well. But, now I've striped the MGB, added an intake, put in a subwoofer/stereo, Sebring light covers, etc. I can not drive this car without compliments. Every day someone (or a few) will yell at me in traffic that they love my car. Thanks Marra!"
"I was looking for a used truck or SUV. I came across ads for vehicles this business had in stock. This past week, I called to inquire about two vehicles in particular. I spoke with the owner. After the owner confirmed they had the two vehicles I was asking about in stock, I made a cash offer on one of the two SUVs. He was asking $5,700.00 for the SUV in question. I offered $4,000.00 in cash. Rather than simply take the offer as the initial part of a negotiation, he got offended, was insulting, and basically acted like one of the most unprofessional individuals I've ever come across. Granted, I negotiate for a living. However, so does he. I wasn't entirely expecting him to accept $4,000.00, but I certainly wasn't expecting the response I got. He became so angry some of the things he said didn't even make sense. For example, he asked, "do you work for $20.00 per hour?" Admittedly, it was quite a stretch for me to understand the connection between what I'm paid, and how it related to my cash offer on a car he's trying to sell? When I explained that I was having trouble understanding the connection, he offered an unintelligible response. I didn't press the issue because it was already one of the dumbest conversations I've had in 2017. After the conversation, I decided to look the business up. I'M VERY GLAD I DID. They have more incredibly negative reviews than positive through Google. What's worse, look them up on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website. As I recall, they have at least 6 or more open claims against them with the BBB. People who have what I read to be some apparently legitimate and significant complaints. In any business, and in life, you can't make everyone happy all of the time. However, in the case of Mara Motorcars, LLC, they're doing a great job of making more people unhappy most of the time; and apparently being accused of fraud, than any other used car dealership within quite a large radius. As for me, I had an envelope literrally filled with $100.00 bills I'd withdrawn from my bank for no other reason than to buy a used truck / SUV to tow my boat. If this guy had been reasonable and acted normally, I might have made the mistake of handing the cash over."
