"I made a reservation at this location expecting the same service I had at other locations. However, when I got to the counter, the person in charge told me that I couldn't rent a car with a temporary license (I'm an international student) and basically walked out of the establishment when I had everything in order to continue with my reservation. He told me to google the rental policies, and guess what? YES, YOU CAN RENT WITH A TEMPORARY LICENSE. I've never had such a terrible experience. This person, besides being rude, was racist."
"Rented a car from the Clearwater location for Uber drives. When I picked it up, I was told by the agent that if I had any issues with the tires to take it to tires plus or pepboys. I saw that the rear tire was lower than the others. Also, they left the window painted with an Uber Ready sign and the seats of the car were very dirty and stained everywhere. When I called about it, they said I can go back and pick another car, they will remove the paint on the window and or buy seat covers. My time is valuable and the location is not close to me so I tried to remove the stains on the seats and the paint myself. I got some of it off but only after seriously scrubbing in the heat. I went in the next day to a see what other vehicles were available, but it didn’t matter, the stains on the seats were equal to or worse than the one in my possession. As I waited for one of the maintenance guys to come scrub the paint off the window, I got Uber requests so I had to leave. Today, the had a notification that the rear tire was low and needed to get fixed. I called them again, they said to take it in or to a tire place, I asked them if a discount was available for the time and gas I was spending on these issues with the car, the manager, Ricardo D Dipego, got on the phone and said with an insolent tone, “I know about your issues, if you don’t like the car return it.” I said to him kindly, “do you realize the amount of..” he then interrupted me and said, “this is all I’m offering, if you don’t like it, return it.” I then hung up the phone. I returned the car. He didn’t say anything other than, “ok you’re good”. I had to request paperwork. Once I received paperwork, I said to him, “I just need you to understand that your quality of service is very concerning, and this is just your customer service not including the quality of the maintenance of the vehicles. You could’ve kindly declined a discount and I would’ve been ok.” His response, “Ok.” My husband then walked up and asked him, “is there anything else you have to say other than just ok, are you going to apologize to my wife?” Ricardo D Dipego replied, “Nope.” When my husband asked for the manager’s info he reports to, he said “I’m not allowed to give that out.” It’s appalling that this “Manager” is still employed here, let alone this business is still open. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE unless you care less about the exchange of value. UPDATE: I just looked at my receipt and noticed he charged me for Fuel service charge but I returned it with a full tank of gas! This guy is absolutely incompetent and unethical."
"Had a reservation, and manager of the location would not honor it. Changed his story multiple times as to why he would not release the car to me. Interrupted my family vacation unnecessarily, and ultimately went to another vendor for a car rental. Of note, the rental was reserved under a major corporate account and that did not matter. Seems the manager arbitrarily decides whether a car is rented or not. Dishonest and would encourage others to stay away."
"We were very unhappy with the vehicle we received at the Orlando airport because it was filthy and was not the vehicle we had reserved. We called Avis, and they told us they would give us a 20% discount. When we returned the vehicle to Avis at 801 Cleveland, St. Clearwater, Florida, we were not given the discount and were told, “It would be a few days to process the refund.” That is not the case. We were not given the refund because it has to be processed when the vehicle is returned. The agents are either unaware of the process or are trying to get your money. It has taken us two months and repeated calls to Avis to have it corrected."
"I would not call what they offer a service, but rather a SCAM. I booked a vehicle 1.5 months in advance online for a month at 801 Cleveland Street. When I went to pick it up , they did not have anything available . I had to wait 1.5 hours. Then, when I tried to do the credit card payment , they told me it did not go through. , tried another one—the same thing. They told me to come back the next day, because the system blocked me. The next day, they did not accept the reservation price and tried to charge me almost twice as much. When I questioned that , the owner, Ricardo D Dipego, threw my documents at me and said to leave if I do not like the price. Extremely unprofessional. Meanwhile, I talked to my bank, and they assured me that the first payment indeed went through, and they blocked the amount. It took 15days to clear. I had a 15-day hold on my money for a service I did not receive. The same day , went to a different place and rented a vehicle without any problems. I do not know if that is company policy or Ricardo D Dipego own fraud scheme and I do not care. I will file a complaint against them with BBB. Third world schemes in USA , I would never have expected that."
