"This is one of the worst emergency rooms I've ever been at. There was a young technician girl in there yesterday who was nice (as well as a nurse named Shelly Jo) but the nurse Jamie and Holly were awful, as well as one of the doctors seen, (there were two because of shift change). Jamie was rude to me and a Spanish speaking patient in the room next to me. He also hurried out of the room when I was mid sentence trying to ask about my care, which I couldn't believe, so he could watch the game on his computer with another nurse. When I told someone what was happening, they spoke with Holly (without my knowledge) and she said "Well were you there? How do you know it really happened?!" (Essentially calling me a liar, and in no way trying to understand or help the situation.) I kept asking the nurses about the next step of my care and they kept saying they would ask the doctor. When I finally asked to speak to the doctor, after waiting about half an hour, the second doctor came in and I asked him myself. I asked him what's next? A CT scan or something else? The only thing he said was "we are going to take care of you" and hurried out the room. I kept getting no answers. As a patient I have the right to be informed about my care. But they just kept putting me off. Also, I waited over an hour to get into the CT scan, (which is usually understandable except they ended up telling me the CT scanner was down and one of the nurses added that they had known all day that it was down.) So I was waiting over an hour for nothing. (She also said they had tried it on a couple recent patients to see if it was working yet and it was not showing clearly). I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to have a call light but if there was one attached to the wall it was nowhere near my bed so I had to keep raising my voice for anyone to hear me. I had no privacy cuz the curtain was open the whole time. There were just so many things wrong that you shouldn't have to go through when you go to the emergency room."
"Went there due to slicing my leg open, Dr.gave me 7 stiches the pain was terrible until he numbed it now numbing wearing off and starting to hurt!!! Nothing for pain and ibuprofen isn’t helping!!! Also they did not cover the area with any kind of bandage!!!"
"Let me say, the nurses are wonderful and sweet. They do all they can in THEIR power, but the way this place is ran is horrible. You would think that if you're in severe pain, even if a urine sample doesn't show anything that the emergency room would send you home with SOMETHING. This was not the case with my husband. He was in pain all night and at work the next day, because this ER didn't do a thing to help him whatsoever. They said "Well, your urine looks clear so we're going to get your discharge papers ready. Get with your general practitioner." Absolutely a waste of time and money. I now understand why my mom always wrote on my school application papers "DO NOT SEND MY CHILD TO ATMORE HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING." They definitely live up to a reputation. Try to do better to help, Atmore Hospital. This is disappointing and embarrassing to have such careless and uncompassionate doctors."
"If I could give them zero starts I would. I took my son there last night who had a105 fever. Waited 3 hours to be seen. Then they asked about his family’s medical history as well as his. Well when I proceed to give it to the Dr. He said he don’t care about the history. Then told me nothing was wrong with him. They didn’t take any blood. Also tired telling me that I told the nurse he didn’t need a chest X-ray. Which me and the nurse never discussed a chest X-ray. I was telling the nurse what he had been doing all day. But I know my son and something was wrong with him. He wouldn’t have a 105 fever that wouldn’t go below 100.6 at 2 years old. He would cry and curl up in a ball. I left before they even gave me the discharge papers."
