"The worst real estate company. They are unprofessional and are out to harass customers. Rachel Andrews and Andrew Sanderson really harassed us and pressured us to increase the rent even after we had agreed and signed the lease. Rachel is the most incompetent agent I have ever met, she gave us wrong info twice for making and sending checks which led to confusion and delay. We were constantly communicating with her and giving her update on every point. But she misrepresented facts to us and then completely blindsided us by taking in another offer even after we were informed that our process is moving ahead. They sneakily used our offer as leverage until they found anyone higher and then forced us to match it even though they had already accepted the other offer. She kept on saying she knows nothing about the rental matter when things messed up as the “listing agent” is someone else and she doesn’t know what they are up to, but when we asked her to give the contact details of her boss so we could escalate the matter, it suddenly turns out that the same listing agent is suddenly her boss. What sort of company has such poor work ethic. We are going to take legal action against them. Stay away!!!"
"I was extremely fortunate to have Kevin Dowd as my realtor, he listened to my needs & found us a gorgeous apartment in the dead of summer, only showed me apartments in my price range & helped me deal with the complicated sale of my home in Montclair and moving into the condo before closing date. I was a handful and he rose to the occasion. He was highly responsive, professional and went above and beyond. I'm only sorry it took me so long to write this review. My family is in real estate and we've dealt with literally hundreds of agents through the years, especially my Father, who thought Kevin was great. He has a very easy going pleasant manner and there is no pressure or push, like many other agents. He resides with his family in Hoboken so he's very knowledgeable about the area. Unfortunately, I have to move again in a year but Kevin will be the first person I go to to sell my unit --C. McKenna"
"I was a first time landlord in Hoboken, and used this agency to rent my apartment. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1, is because I accept that the poor service I received may simply be the standard instead of anything below the average. Everything started out great, the Realtor assigned to me was professional, courteous, and answered the few questions I had. I cooperated with the Realtor and did everything I could to make my apartment as marketable as possible, and quickly found a Tenant. The problems started when the Realtor noted the Tenants they found "may" be interested in signing the lease 3 weeks away instead of immediately. I said this was OK, but said I would prefer they moved in ASAP. I got no response to this question. I then moved out, and continued to get requests for showings, not being sure if the original Tenant they found would move in, or if they were going to wait the full 3 weeks as originally noted. I continued to ask these questions, and the only response I got was that "we should continue to show until the Tenants signed the lease". Then when I finally got a copy of the lease 9 days before the move-in date, I finally learned the Tenant was going to wait the full 3 weeks to move in. Not only this, the lease had already been signed by the Tenant, and had the incorrect rental period on it. Being upset about how I found this out and the errors on the lease, I wrote to the owner of the agency, who instead of owing the issue, blamed the lease problems on some unnamed secretary who they claim drafted it. He further claimed that "it was very challenging" to find a Tenant, and told me that they had never intended on moving in before the date on the lease. At this point I basically had no choice but to accept that my apt would be vacant until then. Then, in the 2nd revision of the lease, it was wrong again. This caused no further delay, but was irritating to say the least after the initial problems I experienced. Finally, to add insult to injury, the Realtor waited a full 5 business days after the Tenants moved in to send me the initial rent checks and security deposit, and the address on the envelope wasn't even correct. Had the Realtor answered my questions honestly and straight-forward at the time I was asking them, and had produced accurate leases the 1st time around, they would have earned a 5-star review. Had they done this, I could have forgiven them for the sloppiness of their work."
"Be careful when renting an apartment with Kelsey Adami. We signed a lease and paid her brokers fee for an apartment that had been up for a sheriff’s auction. The bank's representatives came by a few days after we moved in to inform us of the situation. It looks like we are losing our deposit and brokers fee and feel some due diligence on Kelsey’s side could have avoided this situation. When we complained to Kelsey, see stated ‘I was hired to find a tenant and I fulfilled my duty’."
"I had a very negative experience working with this company. When we viewed the apartment that we ended up signing a two year lease for, we were told by the realtor, an employee of this company, that storage in the basement was included in the rent of the apartment. We signed the lease, moved in and utilized the storage space in the basement. Come to find out that storage was in fact not included and we could not use it. This created a huge problem for us, as the apartment itself didn't have enough storage for my husband, myself and our son. We have ended up having to pay for an outside storage space, which is an additional expense we did not plan on and a logistical pain as well. In addition to that, the realtor was supposed to pass along some information to the landlord which he did not do, which caused additional problems for us. When we contacted Keller Williams City Life about this situation, nothing was done. The realtor lied and said he never even brought up the storage area, but I happened upon it and asked about it and he told me I would need to contact the landlord about it. A complete lie! Perhaps when he told me that storage was included it was an honest mistake, but when asked about it he knowingly lied and the company didn't seem to care much about it, event when I pointed out some of the holes in his story. There were some other things the realtor lied about when we were working with him. He showed us an apartment that was across the street from one of the housing projects in town, but told us we didn't need to worry about safety, as the housing projects were 5 blocks away. We have lived in town for a long time so we knew this was not true, but it certainly could have worked on an unsuspecting client. My impression is that he will say anything to close a deal and doesn't care about the impact that it will have on his clients long into the future. I would not recommend dealing with this company at all. I certainly won't be working with them ever again."
